Thanks everyone for the valuable advice regarding winter storage and fuel. I will be filling up with e-free gasoline and storing it where I can start and run it every two weeks or so as recommended in the owners manual. So, I do not think I will be fogging the carb or engine. It seems that air in the tanks is the worst enemy and that should be taken care of with a few larger bills. Winter here has been mild...so who knows, there might be a chance to tool around a bit yet !!!!

Happy Trails ~

Dawn & Mark,
Although the owners manual for the 77 coaches on page 109 and 110 indicate that you should start and run your coach for 15 to 20 minutes every week or two weeks while in storage, that has been found to be bad for your engine. The engine does not get hot enough to burn off the raw gas that gets by the rings when the engine is running rich with the choke on, only a short drive will do that. Dick Patterson recommends that when you park the coach, don't start it until spring. Fill the tanks before storage and put a fuel stabilizer in the tanks. Fresh oil change is important before storage too. Fred Hudspeth posted a very good procedure on storing the GMC. Before I retired in 06 we used to park our coach from the first part of November to Late April in storage. The only time that I ever started the coach was it I was doing work on the engine, but I tried to avoid running the engine. We now use the coach almost year round as we winter in Florida or Arizona. How you store y

Pretty much if you start it you should go somewhere in it. Drive it to the store, or a night out on the town. (Wife likes a trip to a casino about 1/4 tank from here. I like the buffet and having the dogs to keep me company while waiting.)

If you are not going to use the coach, do not start it. (JWID)

Mike,

Dick Paterson rebuilt my engine about 12 years ago and recommended to me that every 30 days the coach or any other vehicle should be run on the highway for at least 5 miles to get good lubrication at temperature. That also applies to other vehicles that are not being run frequently. Just starting it up and letting it run for a while in place does more damage than good. I have done that since then and the engine still runs well.

Mark,
Don't get confused! Gene and I have said the same thing when it come to storage of your GMC. In our part of the country, you in Wisconsin and I in Michigan, when we park our coaches they stay parked in storage until spring and we consider it long term storage. Where Gene lives in Georgia he can take his coach out for a little drive because of the moderate weather in his location.
