The sermon Sunday included some examples from the book of Job. At one point the preacher made the comment, "He lost everything including his family except for his wife, I don't know why he didn't lose his wife."
From the audience: "Because he wasn't finished suffering yet?"
Pretty safe bet that someone slept on the couch Sunday night.

Kind of like the story I tell about my ex-wife, one time she had her purse and
all of her credit cards stolen.....I never reported them stolen.....the thief
spent less than she did !!!!!

Mark,

Did anyone laugh after that comment? I reckon if I were the preacher I'd have a hell of a time not cracking up!

Rob M.

You can probably guess which half of the congregation laughed. The other half didn't fully appreciate it.

Mark,

Reminds me of the time the President of Hamilton Standard was presenting service pins at a Field Rep meeting.

As he handed me my 25 year pin he noted; "you look too young to be working for HS for 25 years."

Without thinking I quipped; "that's because I never worked at the factory!"

Everybody cracked up - including him!

Regards,
Rob M.

A preacher gave a sermon about the starving children in Africa.

He said "There are millions of starving children in Africa and nobody here gives a shit. What really saddens me is that you are all more concerned about the fact that I said the word shit than you are about the starving children."

Sunday morning some of the GMCMI rally attendees were holding a prayer service. The leader asked if anyone would like to speak. Suzie stood and walked to the podium. She said, "I have a praise. Two months ago, my husband, Tom, had a terrible accident while working on our GMC and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn't know if they could help him." You could hear a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Tom must have experienced. "Tom was unable to hold me or the children," she went on, "and every move caused him terrible pain." We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation, and it turned out they were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Tom's scrotum, and wrap wire around it to hold it in place." Again, the men in the congregation cringed and squirmed. "Now," she announced in a quivering voice, "thank the Lord, Tom is out of the hospital and the doctors say that with time, his scrotum should recover completely." All the men sighed with unified relief. The leader rose and tentatively asked if anyone else had something to say.

A man stood up and walked slowly to the podium.

He said, "I'm Tom." The entire congregation held its breath. "I just want to tell you and my wife the word is sternum."
