OK, Alllllrrrright, I'll wait, but I really want to drop my coach to
the ground. Do some scraping. I want to level out better at
campgrounds, Walmarts, deserts, and the always never level rest areas.

Hey wait a minute, it was a corroborative effort! We cobbled up the idea to make it work, Manny made it with the 1 ton knuckle
which is nice. Hey-- I'm just sayn... Don't start beating him up for it just yet. We need to get some miles and testing on the
set up, there are many possible issues. The reality is it doesn't adjust that much-- maybe 3-4" tops. The coach we have it on
needs to come up to clear the ground effects kit on it-- that's the main reason to the adjustment.
We'll need a serious consideration on alighnment then next week we'll start driving the coach to see what we have. I'll let you
know how it goes,
Jim Bounds

This certainly looks like a nice set-up, and I'm waiting to see how it works out with time and use. Now you can be low riders in front as well as in the back!
I'm very happy that Jim, Manny, and all the others that keep our coaches updated and on the road are out there researching these upgrades!

I was down at the CoOp yesterday, and had the pleasure to meet Manny.
It's looking good, and seriously cool.

Yea and Dolph, it was great you dropped by. You have it, the thing is more of a primal need to slam the coach to the ground! Will be interesting to see how it effects actual on the road handling as it goes high and low. But still, if you look at the coach we're putting this on, it had the full ground effects kit we developed for the Duramax coach. The thing looks mean but with the huge spoiler in the front it was really low and in danger down there. Having the adility to lift the front like most do in town with the rear end of the coach because they are in ride height in town-- if you must negotiate something that needs height, you have an option-- thats the main reason for doing this now. Anything is possible of course, you just need a good reason and a need to do it.
BTW, while I'm typing this, Manny called me lost in Central Florida looking for the city Holopaw. They are heading for a cruise in Ft. Lauderdale and part of the journey would be for Manny and Deo to cruise through the center of the state down backroads to first end up in Okeechobee and see Jeff Sirum delivering his a transmission the he would continue on around the Lake (a really different experience) and end up this afternoon at the ship in Ft. Lauderdale. I would be excited to make that trip but anyway, they are lost right now so next time you talk to Manny, ask him if he found Holopaw! Hey, you know Manny...
So yea, the real proof to this air adjustible front suspension "pudding" is to see if we are able to adapt this new heavy duty component to the coach. If it takes, yea, this could be a great feature. I had wanted to try this for some time now, isn;t it great we have someone like Manny about as nuts to get involved with some cravy stuff! Manny adds color to the GMC specialty dealer network. It's really something to have an able asset to partner with on things.
I have been sort of on the fence having to do with the 1 ton front suspension. I understood there were a couple of designs and things about it and really I have been pretty pleased with the outcome of taking a front suspension back to original that I felt I wanted the dust to settle a bit. Manny offered to help me with the front air suspension project and said he wanted to do it with the 1 ton-- cool, it would be my chance to get into this front suspension mod deal. Ok, so Manny put this together as he always does, brought it down and wanted to put it in with us to learn. Again, isn;t it great that someone with abilities cares enough to get involved--- Manny actually planned his vacation around the learning process on this project. We put it in, found some mods needed right there which is what usually needs to happen and now we can alighn it up and push it's perameters-- it's all part of the perfect process!
Hey Manny, did you find Holopaw?

I don't know about that Mickey. I just watched the bluray of Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day" Reunion concert from 2007, with Jason Bonham on drums. It was awesome!!!

An adjustable front suspension is a very complicated issue. I think Jim is well aware of that. Packaging is only one of the challenges. The front toe change curve is sensitive to ride height and as you control the height, you need to be able to get back to the very same spot everytime you intend to drive it. Also our inner CV joints have a very limited working angularity. This not like our rear suspension levelling in that it is not sensitive to ride height variations. I hope Jim can get it to work, but personally I have doubts that an air operated system can always return to the very exact ride height setting while underway. I have been working on a hydraulic concept which will offer precise control around the driving height with a detent position. It controls the height at the pork chop end.

I have an air ride suspension on my '29 dodge.
This is a system I built. It uses Cadillac sensors and a simple 8 bit processor.
It's very sensitive, I can make it as accurate as I want. In fact I have to do things to make it less accurate so it doesn't adjust every time you turn your head.
Seriously I can measure the body roll when you move your arm from next to you to straight out, thats like .005" on this car.
An analog sensor will give you extreme accuracy on ride height.
I do like the hydraulic over torsion bar system. the Torsion bar is a great system, making it adjustable would be fantastic

Bob,
We designed and Manny Fabbed up the final product why-- because my customer wanted to have it. The reality is just as you pointed out, the alignment goes wackynunu as the suspension goes up and down. Couple that with the fact that you only get at the most 3" of travel AND the fact that unlike the rear suspension that does positivly ellect steering while driving the front wheels go up and down but really does not offer much else. We put it on the body flare kit mainly because he needed to be able to do something to clear a speed bump! Yea, that flare kit was low to the ground!
The best reason to do it cause you want to, it's not really that effective or efficient but someone had to do it to see. Got that T-shirt, been there. Don't really waste your time-- it's cool but of a mild sort,
Jim Bounds

Jim,
This was discussed on the GMCnet when you installed it and IIRC it was noted that it was a one off and Manny would not be building
any more.
