After taking a look, I don't see the benefit in a cast iron engine which uses 'old tech' hoses, seals, and clamps. If I do 4 years or fify K miles whichever comes first, the price difference lasts my lifetime and it's much less expensive when the water pump dies and the system must be drained as just recently happened to me.

I saw a reference to this on a Lotus website.

Sounds like might have applicability for the GMC community.
PS: I have no dog in this fight (nor, regretably a GMC anymose).

Some people in the Volvo community like it, but those engines have a bunch
more aluminum. Still, it means that if you have a thermostat fail shut, or
the radiator fan stop for some reason, you are far less likely to suffer
engine damage. If you do get such a failure, the engine usually runs until
the wiring melts, and is undamaged after the wiring is replaced. Plus, a
gas millage boost would make all of us happier, though I would expect that
is more for diesel than gas, and you would have some power loss as well.
