6 Kw Starter Mounting Bracket Question
I have pulled the Starter and it checked out O K `
BUT
The Starter Mounting Braket Is Broken In Half
P/N 191-0929
ALSO
The Muffler and Starter Baffel Braket Is Broken
P/N 134-2607
I removed the Broken Starter Mount Bracket curved
Part that was attached to the nose of the starter
and the bottom of the flywheel housing
BUT
I Don't Know How To remove the larger broken piece
My intentions was to weld the broken parts and
re=attach Them ~
Any helpful advice would be GREATLY Appreciated

Woosh ,Been there done that already.Unfortunately you Must take the flywheel off to fix it.also the reason it broke is you obviously need 4 new rubber mounts as well cause that is how you broke it in the first place.I did the same thing sliding it in and out, when the mounts are dead the gen hangs too low to slide in proper and when one forces it in it shatters the starter mount.Look close and you will see what I mean.
Its not hard you just need the right puller.

Thanks For The Quick Comebacks ~
I was hoping for an Easy QUICK On The
Road Fix for some Onan Power' ~ I'll
just tape up the wires, put the starter
and broken brackets in the roof pod and
wait til we get back to WARMER Alebamy ~
The starter seemed to be hanging up at
times and the Onan was getting harder and
harder to start. I Pulled the starter out
ok to have it checked out and when I tryed
re-installing I could not get it in firm ~
I should have waited til e\we got back home
It looks like No Mo Wally World Camping on
our way back home W/O The Onan Power
UNLESS
I can find an available light pole in their
parking lots with outlets LOL ~
The '78 Eleganza Ii has been running real
good on this northern trip and is still
getting decent fuel mileage.
Been real pleased with the The Edelbrock
Preformer Aluminum Intake Manifold system
{with the filled exaust crossover}
Even the ole furnace has been putting out
excellent heat without any problems and I
Can See The Dash Gauges since I installed
the "Lil Jimmy Steering Wheel"
such as on the road again in a Classic GMC

~> Four # 402-0284 Cushion Motor Mounts

Joe,
Unless the 'motor mount bolts' and nuts are rusted badly, there is no need to replace them. My coach is a Southwestern coach, so they were pretty clean. All I did was buff them up with a wire wheel on my bench grinder. I guess if yours are badly pitted, then you might consider replacing them.

M&D Mower web site for replacement cushions. Suggest replacing them one at a time. Might become hard to handle if you remove the worn out mounts in toto, then attempt to install the new ones. Not a difficult task.

Good goin' Joe. It was easy, wasn't it?
That sounds like one of my jobs. A few weekends ago, I changed out the transmission fluid/filter, and rear differential oil in my Dodge 1-ton. It took me the better part of a full day but I only had about $95.00 into it instead of list price for the parts (about $180.00) and two or three hours on shop labor (at about $100.00/hr). The shop would not have cleaned and painted the diff cover, or buffed up all the bolts either. Plus, I KNOW it was done right.
