To my fellow GMC Hams, yes, all 87 of you. For the International Rally next spring in Dothan, Al, I would like to do a special event station in connection with the Rally. I've talked to Kim, and she is okay with the idea.
Thinking in terms of operating on 10 meters ( novice portion))and 40 meters, (general class).
Need volunteers to operate, suggestions on frequencies, etc. bring gear.
I will need to get this posted on ARRL for the web site and the magazine. We have time to plan a GMC themed QSL card and get them printed.
Either reply by p.m. Or this open forum.
I will bring my Ft857D, antenna tuner, coax and power supply. Time is of essence.

You can renew directly at the FCC ULS site:
<http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/index.htm?job=home>, for free or at the W5YI site:
<http://www.w5yi.org/page.php?id=87> for a fee

Count me in.
How about also 15 and 20 meters, I doubt you will get much on 10 unless the band is open. There is not much going on in the novice band since they got rid of the code requirement for a license and made technician the entry level.
I have every thing from 440mhz to 40 meters in my Blazer. I guess I'll have to pull the radios out of it and bring them along.

Byron is good with that graphic stuff. Maybe we can get him to design us some GMC QSL cards or certificates.
Are you going after a special event license?

Sigh... I was "busy with life" when my General class ticket expired, and didn't get it renewed (this was decades ago, mind you). I went on to earn my 1st Class Radiotelephone commercial ticket, but let that expire too (got promoted too many times for it to really affect my career and was too busy moving around the planet to worry about it).
Now I'm retired, and would gladly renew my ticket and blow the dust of my old-school equipment, but it appears that I'm out of luck as it's not only expired, but died, rotted and crumbled to dust apparently.

Just take the test again. It is not that difficult. They have dumbed down the test quite a bit and code is no longer required. I think they give you an automatic 50 credit if you spell you name correctly. The even publish the questions and answers so you can see them ahead of time.
Say the word and I'll send you a copy of the question pool. I forget how many questions are on the test. I think it is 35.
If your old call sign has not been reassigned you can also have it back.

I just looked up your call in the FCC data base and it is a vanity call so you have to pay the vanity fee.
Also K7ERF and W7ERF are available to you if you wish to change.

W1GMC is available. Might be easier for me to get to Clipperton as get to Dothan next year, but maybe not. W4GMC not available, nor N4GMC, K4GMC, W5GMC. Popular combination.
