Finally got my dash air system back on line but have what seems to be a continual leak from heat and dash venting into the defrost circuit. The defrost servo seems to be working fine because when you put it on defrost the flow really increases/ have checked all the vacum hoses and what they are suppose to do at each switch setting and that all checks out. Any ideals on this. I've heard that 73 ahnd 74 dash airs weren't that great if it can't easily be repaired without dismantling dash I'll just use my clip on fans to move it from the top of the dash to the occupants. Thanks.

Most likely bad sealing on the flaps inside the heater box. They are made of foam and it has been like 35 years.

Skip,

Take a look at
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/new-dash-panel/p23846-view-of-the-plastic-da.html

See that rectangular hole in the bottom of the dash assembly? There's a
flap in there that swings aft for Defrost & fwd for Heat/Air. That's what
the servo moves. I seriously doubt that you want to remove that assembly
to correct the problem, which might be a damaged hinge, an obstruction, or
several other possibilities. Even getting to the servo to check its
operation or R&R it would be a daunting task.

Enjoy your frost-free windshield.

Anyone that remembers 8 tracks, rememebers how fast foam rubber dries out especially in a heated enviroment. Might as well look on the bright side, I set out just so I would have defrosters. Be careful what you wish for. Not complaining, for an added bonus all I did was charge an inoperative AC and plug in the compressor and gauge readings right on the money and no funny noises, cold air blowing and water, not coolant, dripping out of the blower box.
