Is it just me or is this an unusual floorplan? I like it. Not sure where I would sleep, but I like it.

Too bad he was too busy to list all the features. Way out of my league.

Stick,

You're right, it appears to be a combination of a rear bath and center kitchen!

Hey,

Wait a minute! This is a unique floor plan. Upon further study I note that it is a rear bath but instead of having the tub on the
passenger side it appears there's a shower on the driver side. I think I see the plastic shower door in the photo of the galley.

The dinette is behind the entry door across from the galley.

The two chairs face a couch which I assume pulls out to make a double bed?

I've never seen one of these before.

Regards,
Rob M.

I don't think it's a standard floor plan from Coachmen. Nor do I think the
shower's on the driver's side -- If you look closely, the "shower door"
appears to be a mirror framed with the same Coachmen-style molding that's
around our closet door, though ours is much shorter.

Have to wonder where the LPG tank is -- probably under the couch behind the
driver.

Ken,

Going to stick to my guns because:

If it is a mirror why is it mounted the depth of the counter top from the driver side wall?

Also in the other picture of the rear bath you can look out the rear window and the dunny appears to be hard up against the
passenger side wall.

I looked to see if the LPG was under the dinette seats but that's not possible cause it lines up with window AND the wheel well.
That's kinda dumb as the people sitting on the window side have to contend with the wheel well.

Regards,
Rob M.

You COULD be right -- that might allow for an LPG tank in the "LPG
compartment". Eliminates any possibility of an APU though.

Our closet is about the same depth so that's not a clue. On the R. side,
though, there's not much room for shower, tub, or anything else since the
photo shows space to the R. of the toilet, in the area enclosed by our
shower curtain.

It is a rear bath Coachmen (Royale). The dinette has been moved to a stupid
space with the wheel well below half of the dinette. My guess is some short
person slept there (note the walled dinette). I suspect the bunk/couch is
across on the other side. That couch under the window behind the driver
would be short, too. Maybe this was for tailgating and not sleeping. I also
suspect there is a shower where the tub used to be and the closet is still
over the Onan.

Agreed. Asking to much for today's market.

Nice paint job from all appearances. Why the photos from a year ago?

By the way, I always hated putting truck turn signals under the mirrors.
Just get new Ramcos or Velvacs with the turn indicators.

Nice paint job, though. (trying to be positive)

Dang. Just paid attention. The sink is over the driver wheel well. And, yes,
that appears to be a shower door on the driver side.

So, what happened to the Onan and the LPG tank. Maybe this unit is all
12-volt or hook up to shore power only? It wouldn't be suitable for hot
weather driving with no Onan.

OK, I give, what odd person owned this beast?

Byron

I THINK is what they are talking about. It's miscoded as a GMC RV instead of GMC Motorhome.

Thanks for the link. I even searched all of ebay on Royale and it didn't come up.

It is item number: 271088309702

Notes: Paint looks good in the one year old pictures. Visor, two a/c's, pod, solar panel (most likely small), air horn, front bumper step, fender flares, trunk, shortened ladder and reversed spare. It has awnings both sides, entry step, screen door but no curtian on the door window. It seems to have a two burner stove, a single sink and what might be a microwave above refer. It has a custom dash (not that different than OEM) with warning lights in the upper lip, after-market gauges, a nice (if older) steering wheel and a big RED knob just forward of EL controls... maybe fire suppression?

It does have an interesting rear window treatment. If you have a rear bath, it is something to consider. Thought there was something odd with the driver's side wiper, but noticed there is foam on the wipers.

Now about the layout "differences": The coach looks to have Coachman cabinets and could be one of the few "one-off" coaches they upfitted. It looks like it started as a Rear Bath.

The couch looks to be the same design as the PO added one in my 73, but done much nicer. Dinette looks to be done similarly. Yes, the wheel well is in the way for the next to the wall seating position but I do not think it would effect the use most of the time. It is very rare for us to have more than one person on each bench at the same time.

The door in bath on the driver's side (normally a closet) is longer than normal. It reaches the ground so might be a shower... if so the Onan isn't there. With the bulkhead in the bath to the right of the stool leads me to wonder if the expected bathtub is there.

I do not see the normal Royale propane compartment just forward of the entry door. (This is the ONE reason I think it MIGHT be a one-off Coachman product.) It doesn't seem to be on the driver's side either... I see access panels for the refer, water heater and furnace. Nothing that looks like a propane compartment. (See below)

I can see the advantages of a coach with this layout. Good for near full timing for one or a couple. I have seen a 1974 coach that was converted into a layout similar to this. (He moved the windows...) It DID have a rear bath with a large "house sized" shower in the driver's rear... and a Honda generator moved to the curb side rear. The closet was above the Honda in the back corner. The dinette was like the one on this coach, just narrower. (single bed) The kitchen had the layout and shape like one in a Rear Bath Birch (angled sink) It had a queen sized sofa bed in front of that. A movable chair was on the curb side behind the passenger seat.

The propane tank? I never did find it, but later talked to the builder of the '74 coach.... It is a small frame mounted tank (like one found on a Volkswagen Westfalia) under the drivers side.
