We left this afternoon for a three-week trip through Nevada, Utah and Arizona but we almost didn't get out of the driveway. My ELII system in my 78 Eleganza has always worked, sort of. I have always been able to manually raise or lower the coach but the travel mode doesn't work. Not a big problem - I just get out the yard-stick and adjust the ride height manually before hitting the road.

Today, however, when I tried to raise the coach to get out of the driveway the compressors didn't come on. Made sure I had the ignition on and had the "Travel" switch in "Hold" (actually, I tried every position) but still nothing. Since neither compressor was working I figured a fuse. The "Öperating Manual" says there is a 30 amp circuit breaker "ïn fuse block". Since this is listed under "Vehicle Fuses and Circuit Breakers" I looked at the fuse block in the glove box. Nothing there. Checked the coach 12-volt panel but nothing there either. Can someone tell me where it is?

BTW, we did get away with only an hour or so delay. Fortunately a PO had fitted the air bags with shut-off's and shraeder valves. The coach was so low on one side (driveway is nowhere near level) that I had to take the T-skirt off to get my hand in. My little HF $39.95 100 psi compressor performed as advertised. We made is as far as Lovelock. No problems over Donner Summit. Tomorrow we'll head toward Salt Lake City and Moab

Darryl, the circuit breaker is at the top of the fuse panel in the very
center of it. It is metal, not glass, and it runs horizontally. It is
shorter than a glass fuse. It can be hard to spot. They rarely fail.

Thanks Jim. I'll check it in the morning but if they "rarely fail" that probably won't be the problem.

I'll keep the compressor and the yardstick handy.

Darryl,

Check your electrical connectors to the compressor. May be a loose connection.

Darryl,

Your coach may have had the air compressors rewired to be supplied by the coach 12v electrical system. Check the coach fuses in the electrical compartment. Gene (Mr. ERF) has this on his GMC information site:

"The Electrolevel II air system needs help in providing power to the two air compressors/motors. They receive their power through a relay for each motor (GM installed). A marginal design & age of connections creates low voltage for operation of the system. A simple routing of a separate "stiff" power source w/10 AWG wire through a 30 amp circuit breaker to the power contacts of each relay does great things for the system. Don't rely upon color of wire to find the relay input power wire . . . probe to make sure before cutting the original power wire. Tape the cable wire up & attach the new power wire to the relay side wire. Also add an additional 10 AWG ground wire for the return current path. Do this for each relay & you will note the different in motor speed. Use the local House fuse bus to obtain the "Stiff" power for the compressor system."

I was thinking the same thing. That was the first problem I had with my #2 coach.

The loose connector was in the same compartment as the pumps. On my Rear Bath Birch, it is under the stove.

When I first bought our coach I had this same problem, it was the ignition
switch which I bypassed with a dedicated power supply.

My coach has a 30amp fuse in the upper chamber of the fuse block, located in the glove box. Don't know if it came that way or upgraded by the PO Laughing .
