Awakened from a long summers nap [message #187639] |

After my GMC sat for 7 months; I went over to the storage yard to kick the engine over.
I keep her plugged in to 110 volts so the batteries remain fresh.
As always, she started right up. I proceeded to adjust the idle speed downward and headed to the emissions testing. Flunked
Found out 500 RPMs was not good. Adjusted it back up to 750 when in Drive and this time it flew through emissions.
Then cranked the Onan and it started right up also.
Can't find a thing wrong with her! SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG!!! Or am I having a dream......?

If I use ZDDP in a new car - will the tappets go flat?

Yeah, 500 RPM will never do it. I crank it up to 1100 for emissions.

Some of the storage problems come with a delay like the roof a/c units... they are triggered by reaching a certain distance from any repair facility.

John,
There's nothing unique about your experience; Double Trouble has been doing the same thing for the past four years.
Before she goes into hibernation for the winter she gets washed, oil changed, greased, water supply drained and purged with air,
water drains filled with RV antifreeze, black tank flushed with a wand thoroughly, hot water tank drained, batteries serviced, fuel
tanks filled COMPLETELY and Stabil added, power cable left plugged in, de-humidifier set on top of galley counter (drains outside),
large blocks slid under rear bogies and air bags deflated fully.
Regards,
Rob M.
