For those watching.

Larry and the Kingsly are safely in his driveway.
I spent a couple hours with him yesterday.

Summary,
Those of you that thought it might be the isolator;
It was bad, but it was already out of the picture. We have confirmed that and he had procured a replacement that he installed yesterday. It is still strapped out, but I will get to that.

Those of you that thought it was a tilt and ignition switch problem;
You were real close. The switch is not influenced to do strange things by the tilt, but it does them all on its own. It looks like one of the internal switches is out of phase. He got the original out and I sent him a list of part numbers.

Those that though it was an alternator problem;
I could not get proper output form the alternator no matter what I did. It appears to be new either a new Remy replacement or a nice rebuild. but we couldn't get it to make any juice. Larry is going to remove it and get it tested.

The house bank is toast. A single 4D - "Not just merely dead but really most sincerely dead" (Corner - Wizard of Oz). Larry is going to replace it with a pair of golf cart 6's. That is why the house battery is on the lawn and the isolator is strapped out. That way he has some power to the 12V house circuits.

We got the APU to crank off the engine battery with the boost circuit, but it did not fire. That was no real surprise. That is on his list.

The coach is in very nice shape and was well taken care of.

Matt

LOL, but Larry still has a dead coach. Sad
How fortunate to have someone like Matt nearby. Wont be long and he will be back on the road. Thanks for the update Matt and for helping one of us out like you did.

Great, now I feel like a jerk. Sorry about that, Larry, I meant it in
all good fun.

I hope that the gremlin-hunting is successful and that you'll be
rolling soon. :)

Hey, thanks for my morning belly laugh. I always know there will be a lawyer in the crowd that brings a big smile to my face.
No jerks here this morning, just happy gmcers.

Way to step up Matt. It sounds like, with your help, the coach will be back on the road in no time.

And I thought it was the butler in the library with a lead pipe. I guess I
read something into the script I shouldn't have.

Nice job and great effort, Matt! It's good you have both the patience and expertise to sort through all that. Kind of a long list of issues for one session. Fortunately they are all at least semi-cheap to fix. There's a pretty good, old school alternator and starter rebuilding place near me on Sashabaw road a bit South of I75. Sounds like it would be better to get that one fixed rather than go for a Chinese reman.

I am with Craig on the local rebuilder. I now carry one I had locally rebuilt. Same for starter. This after having gone through issues after loosing them on the road. It is a sad thing that we can't buy rebuilts that will always be good to go.

Larry called yesterday afternoon to tell me that he took the alternator to a shop (must have been a real shop, but I will ask) and they found it dead.

When they cracked it open, there were lots of loose parts inside.....
I've got to find out more about this..
He's lucky it didn't lock up and take out the other belt with it.

They didn't have another 100amp and couldn't get one for a few days, so he got am 80 (stock) and has probably bolted it in by now.

I am waiting to hear from him.

Matt

Matt,

It's great that you now have some one local to play with. Nice of you to go over and help with the trouble shooting and then report to this group.

Reading all the responses is like reading a who dun it with all the plot twists and dead ends and finally a sometimes surprise happy ending.

Keep up the good work.
