Anybody have pictures of the vacuum cleaner box and the hookups to it? Ours has the 2", 90* gray plastic elbow at the top of the box that must somehow connect to the switch plate where you plug in the hose.

The elbow says 2" on it, but 1-1/2" and 2" pvc do not fit in it. So how does the elbow connect to the switch plate. Also, where do the wires from the plate connect to the box? And how does the exhaust work? Is there supposed to be a connection from the box to a hole in the floor?

Any pics or info is appreciated! '78 Royale with the vacuum under the bottom bunk.

I assume the vac system in my 78 Palm Beach is probably different from the Royale, but I currently have the vac unit out of the coach and since I'm not that far from you, you would be welcome to look at it

John,

The reason 2" pvc pipe (Assuming you looked at sch 40 @ a local hardware store) is that the pipe used in central vac systems is a special breed. Look at this website if you need pipe/fittings: http://builtinvacuum.com

Best,
Phil

Thanks Phil,

The 2" came from the gray 90* elbow that sticks out of the top of the vac box. The measured ID of the elbow is 2". As I've learned, central vac systems can use their own pipe sizes. Maybe an old paper towel cardboard roll will work Laughing
Thanks for the link. I'm still fooling with the vac box, and its location.

John

Mine had central vac and PO took it out except the inlet (which is broken). I found a Thomas vac and will soon reinstall. Think ill upgrade to the 120v power driven carpet head though and vent the unit out the refer box.
