For all of you looking for a great west coast rally, Sharon and I are hosting a joint GMC Cascaders/GMCWS rally in beautiful Coos Bay, Oregon the first week in October 2013. We will take over the whole of the new RV Resort at the Mill Casino, Hotel and RV Resort plus both ball rooms in the hotel. A 50 to 60 person Yurt at the RV area will serve as "social central" with vendor parking immediately adjacent. The meals will be staff catered in one side of the ball room while seminars and displays will occupy the other side of the ball room. In addition to the full hookups in the very spacious RV Resort there will also be overflow free dry camping right next to the RV area for those wishing to come early, stay late, or who just prefer dry camping. Many things planned including a tour with wine and food sampling of the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute. Coos Bay is roughly equal in distance from all parts of the region served by both of these GMC clubs from Canada to Mexico an
d the Rocky Mtns west. We would love to have lots of you "flat landers" join us for what promises to be a real Pacific ocean treat with fall colors that many say rival New England. Read all about it at GMCWS.ORG and soon also on the GMC Cascaders web site. PS, if we are really lucky, Fleet Week at Treasure Island in the middle of SF Bay will be the second week in October next year so you could do two neat events in one swing (Fleet Week 2012 is the first week in October this year, but 2013 is not yet scheduled).

There is a nomination form on the GMCMI site.? If you have a suitable location on the West coast, nominate it.? Holding a convention all the way to any coast does not make a lot of sense since is reduces the geography of GMCMI members people that will attend.? Not many members live out on the water of the tw Oceans or in Mexico of Cuba.? That said I have attended recent GMCMI conventions on both East and West coasts.? (Harrington and Santa Rosa)? I have also attended rallies put on by GMC East and GMC West.? We have one GMCMI attendee from Washington State that I have seen at almost every GMCMI rally I have attended regardless of location.?

At Amana I saw Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta, California, Florida, and New York Plates so it looks like a more central location is a big draw.

So come on out no matter where it get's scheduled and nominate a suitable site closer to you if there is one.

Hey Jerry;

This has been on my calender since I first saw it on the WS website
a couple of weeks ago. All of your events sound great, plus there is
plenty of sand just up the road for the folks that haul dune
buggys/bajas around with them.

Please tell us more, Jerry.

How many days are planned for the rally? Can it accommodate 200 or so coaches for a rally that would last 6 nights? Do they have buildings that can handle our seminars? Can we have the buildings for 5 or 6 days prior to the rally to set up? What is the cost per night for the camping? How many meals are planned? What is the cost for the meals and the rooms? 50 or 60 people in a social area seems way too small for a large group of 300 to 400 people. Are other areas also available?

You might want to pass the information on to the GMCM convention manager, Kim Weeks. I am sure that she would have a lot of other questions.

Wow. Super tempting. I may have to retire from teaching or take a
one-semester sabbatical in order to set aside two weeks for such a great
event.
