Is this the type of arrangement you guys are using for TV's etc ?

This looks to be a cheapie, but at this price may be worth it.

Some do. Some use much more expensive sine wave inverters.

The difference -

The less expensive units output "modified sine wave", which is a pretty nasty looking square wave with a big spike on the front of the rise. If you don't have a true-RMS AC voltmeter, it will probably read in the high 80's or low 90's for voltage.

All that being said, switching power supplies (computers. TV's,) don't mind it at all.

Motors and resistive loads will see that as a low voltage condition, and will tend to overheat.

Just be aware of the limitations.

Great info, just what I was looking for.

By the way, what would the better version (in this wattage) cost?

I don't know if you can get pure sine wave at the 100 watt level.

I put a 400 watt unit in our SUV, and it was on the order of $100. It was advertised as sine wave. It makes an OK sine wave.

I had a specific need. Other than that, I probably would have never spent the money, and gone with the modified sine wave.
