We will be leaving Dexter about 5 pm today. Most of our driving will be in the dark so wont get to see much on the way up. There is a meeting in the morning which keeps us on the road til we get there. This convention was not really set up for working people but it is what it is. We are not going to be working folks much longer.

Click the link, after 5, and see how we are progressing. Should you need my GMC id, it is WD0AFQ
Ken Burton should be on the road tomorrow. You can also track his progress by typing in N9KB-11
The best part of this trip is that we will hit St. Louis after dark.
Hope to see everyone in the morning.
Dan

Pretty neat feature. Is that something with HAM gear? My Dad was a HAM...WA4EBS.

Yes it is. There is a very small GPS half the size of a pack of cigarettes and a small controller the size of a pack of cigarettes plus a 2 meter radio in the vehicle. The GPS feeds the controller. The controller makes decisions based on speeds and changes of direction and occasionally transmits a position packet. That packet is then received by various stations all over the world and forwarded to a bunch of redundant world wide servers. The site you are looking at receives this packet makes the web page. That particular web page is hosted in Finland.
Here is me going to Cincinnati and back yesterday:

Yeah, no kidding! What convention or rally is?

I am not involved in setting these up but I do appreciate all of the work that goes into it. Before I started working this part time job it was no problem. I kept hearing from folks that said if it was during a week, they only took one week off work and had two weekends to travel, there and back. If over a weekend they had to take two weeks, or parts of two weeks, off. Makes a lot of sense now that I have a job again. But, we will make it whatever it takes.
Dan,
wishing everyone could make at least one of these conventions
