Hi all,
We are making plans to leave for Amana on Tues PM, we will be go as far as Bangor ME, leave Wed AM and hopefully get to Scranton PA by Wed evening, our map looks like we should take Rte 80 west from there to Amana,It's a long drive from Hanwell, NB., around 27 hrs driving time one way, This will be a real test on new engine and dozens other recent changes.
If any of you have any travel suggestions we would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bob and Cheri Wheaton

Elkhart, Indiana has a bunch of RV surplus stores that you might want to check out. There is also a RV museum (I think it's still there) if that would interest you.

I would suggest staying away from Chicago due to traffic concerns. If you do want to visit, parking the coach in Indiana and taking the South Shore Electric Line may be a reasonable way to get into the city to visit if you would like. Starved Rock State Park is just southwest of the city and should be a nice spot if you want another alternative. Otherwise, it's pretty much corn and soybean fields until you get to the Mississippi River.

Amana is about 4 hours west of Chicago along I-80, and is a pretty easy drive.

If you want a place to stop and plug in overnight. Feel free to come by my hanger just south of I-80 in Valparaiso, Indiana. There is one GMC overnighting there right now on his way to Amana. He is an early arrival and probably helping set up. We looked at his Onan last night.

It is about 240-250 miles to Amana from there. I need to get out there today and work some more on my coach to get it ready for AMANA.

My hanger is located at the Intersection of US-30 and Ind 49.

Elkhart, Indiana has a bunch of RV surplus stores that you might want to check out.

Hit the RV surplus stores on the way BACK from Amana. Two reasons to do it that way:

-Seeing what others have done to their coaches may give you some ideas for stuff you can buy surplus.

-The main reason. If you find stuff and buy it you will have to haul it to Amana and back and have to work/live around it for that week. Nothing worse than having a big box of stuff to trip over.
