this company makes conversion for most onan generators.

Any other recommended kits?

does LP conversion make the genset any quieter and does it reduce the carbon monoxide risk any?

thanks

As to the response "does it reduce the CO risk". The answer is no,
when you burn a hydrocarbon such as propane you create CO, some traces
of other stuff and water. It does burn cleaner in the engine with
less deposits as Gene has previously posted.

For those of you that are Chem E's the answer may have been without a
complete answer.
In a perfect world with excess oxygen propane burns to form water and
CO2 + heat and if you have incomplete combustion then you get CO, CO2
and water + heat. Word of warning, CO2 can be just as deadly as CO in
high enough concentrations. So I have misstated it somewhat as it
does burn fairly clean if your engine is set up correctly.

If you look a little more into LPG/CNG engines, you will find they need far more initial ignition advance and far less total advance than when running on gasoline. (They also benefit greatly from higher compression pistons, but that is another issue) I humbly suggest that you stay away from anyone or equipment that does not address the timing issue. They do not know what they are doing.

I wonder if a second Pertronix head unit could be positioned a few degrees advanced with the propane switch controlling them?
