~ Onan Starter Question ~
Today I serviced the '78 Eleganza II
Oil & Filter Change
Lubeed Chassis
Tranny Fluid & Filter Change
Flushed the cooling system and added coolant
Then I changed the oil in the 6 K BARBARIAN
I started the '403 and when the temp was normal
I shifted thru the Tranny, Put it in park and
enguauged the Dash A/C system.
With the Engine Idleing I walked back To Start
the Onan
As I Pressed The Buttuns To Start It
I Could Hear The Starter And It Sounded As If
Itb Was Not Enguaging, just a spinning noise ~
aNY sUGGESTIONS ?

I read on here awhile back that if your Onan drags a little when you first pull it out on the slides or bumps when nearly slid back in that the motor mounts have sagged and the dragging/ bumping is the starter bracket. If left uncorrected the bracket will fail from the interference. If you haven't done so maybe replace the mounts if you are having to replace the starter bracket.

Replacement generator mounts are available from M&D Mower on the Web. You need 4. Very easy replacement job, only one (top right hand) requires much thinking about how it is replaced. They do carry many Onan parts, at friendly, non-cummings prices.
I suggest supporting the generator with blockage to keep it up at the near correct level, and replace one at a time. 440 pounds of Onan are tough to handle, even with help.
JmK is your easy source for the starter bracket, other vendors do have them.
