distributor gear, who carries a spare and who does not?
i am trying to deside if i need as a spare, or just replace and not worry with, i have hei, so i assume gear is not original, but who knows how old. i also assume to replace is a small issue,
all input is appreciated \bgk

Everyone should carry the gear, a nail that fits the hold in the side and a drill bit as an emergency spare. If gear strips, you are dead in the water (or, on the Interstate). Whole package is very inexpensive, and small. Easy to find a hiding hole for this.
You should also carry a spare HEI coil with a small tube of the conducting paste you need for installation. Again very cheap. In fact, Dick Patterson is know to give used, good ones away at International.
Just my 2 cents, and I do have these essential spares in my coach. Plus, many spares that are not essential.
