I have no problem joining FMCA , I get, and got, a lot for my money,
they have tons of features I never use (mail , etc)
but
I like their overarching, coverage for all RVers and their clubs
- I was there when they flew Denny Allen home when he took ill at a GMC
rally in LV.
- they paid to have his GMC driven home

they provide coverage for the 5 GMC clubs I belong to: ( one price for all)
- thanks to Fay, FMCA provided coverage for Desmond's TI rally (through the
49ers)
- all of our clubs use them

I like their magazine
- like the pictures
- like the support for vendors
- like their articles
- like the tech tips, (not always our issues)
- I can link to their help (membership not required)
http://community.fmca.com/topic/4244-broken-cooling-fan-motor-bracket/

I like their Rally's
- they do something for their vendors
- vendors like their rally's
- I will go, when eve,r I am close

I like FMCA
So I have no problem joining FMCA , I get, and got, a lot for my money,
they are the best deal around.
and
I am so glad they are still there and getting better
and
they have nothing to do with "us" holding our own GMC, technical data
"hostage" for over 22 years

I like FMCA also. For the reasons Gene listed plus...
They try hard to accommodate all motorhome users - even those of us with 30
plus year old coaches. Those of us that don't join chapters and those of us
that do. They treat all chapters -regardless of number of members in them
equally. And, if you have ever called anyone that is listed as willing to
provide help or a place to stop, you have just made a new friend (and they
don't even need to own a GMC!).
The major vendors at the Area and Reunion rallies are willing to help -
many times for free- with and service issues you might be having, and with
a smile.
I like reading about the recall issues that the new coaches have in the
FMCA magazine, and being glad that those aren't issues those of us with
GMCs have. Makes one glad to have an older coach with the teething bugs
worked out.
I like seeing what is new in the coaches and how that might work in the GMC.
I like their trip routing service - best collection of maps sent for
travel. Better than AAA or Good Sam.
I like FMCA and would be a member even if it wasn't needed to belong to the
GMC chapters!

Guy, I'm going to "third" that motion and give you my two cents for free.

Now that I've owned a GMC and an SOB here's what I've learned along the
way.

GMCers need not feel they aren't a part of the whole motorhome lifestyle
group. When we'd be in our GMC drivers of other motorhomes would always
ask about the GMC; the mileage, the features, the ride, what we liked
about it. Then would come the comment: Looks as good today as back in the
day; that shape is timeless.

GMCers need not feel FMCA has nothing for them. I'm talking the magazine,
the benefits, and the family reunions (as they're now calling it). And why
do you think they call them reunions? It isn't just a marketing name. It
identifies the feel at those rallies. We went to one in our GMC and always
felt welcomed. We've been to three in the SOBs and felt no better --
treatment was the same -- we were people that liked the lifestyle and had
common concerns. I also like walking the aisles to see what's current and
think about upgrading where appropriate. I like looking at the display lot
and thinking I'm glad I'm not taking the hit with this monster.

Go to a meeting where they explain the benefits and open it up for
questions. That's when you hear people come up and comment about how being
in FMCA provided them coverage (just like insurance) when they needed it
but never thought they'd use it.

Hey, owners of FMC, classic Airstreams, Travcos, and others are in the
same situation -- they just had preferences or reasons for purchasing
different that we but the common feeling toward motorhoming is still
there. We're not better than they and they aren't better than us, if you
get my drift.

Martha and I are on our third motorhome, second diesel pusher, and we
still have affection for the GMC and the crowd that owns them. In fact,
when traveling down the roadways of America we still get a thrill when we
see one.

As Gene and Bert have said, FMCA is great. Don't knock if you really don't
know about it. If you don't really know about it or haven't attended an
FMCA family reunion you owe it to yourself to invest some of your time in
learning. All you have to do is get over your own prejudice first. Been
there, done that, glad I switched.
