Ran across a 2000 Saturn locally, that comes with the tow bar, and base plate is already mounted.

high miles car, but as a toad, who knows if its accurate, reads 217,000. Only concern is the trans shifts very hard into drive or revers, and very stiff shifts between 1-2 and 2-3.

i think with the tow bar included, the price is decent that is asked, but can anyone give me some pointers on the trans. it almost feels like a broken motor or transmission mount, but ive never driven a saturn before today.

forgot to mention, its an automatic, with the twin cam engine. has a slight oil burning smell but mostly went away after it ran for a bit

Donavan, what model Saturn is it?. If it is the SUV some models used a
Honda transmission and were towable. I had 2 Saturns '97 & '99 wagons
and they didn't record towed mileage. I don't recall if Saturn
changed that when they went to the newer, heavier models in 2000. Your
best bet is have a tranny guy look at it before you buy.

I don't have Saturn specific knowledge, but after fluid check I'd check for broke or stuck or missadjutted TV cable. Then also check motor mounts and dog bones. Then a lot of engine drivability issues show up as trans quirks (engine vac leak cracked hose)

You have to remove two fuses to stop it from rolling up mileage.

Sooner or later it will need a new ECM. Prepare for about $1,300 to replace it. The ECM to this vehicle is tied to the VIN number so one from a junkyard is useless.

If I use ZDDP in a new car - will the tappets go flat?
