Well got the aluminum intake installed along with my honda Generator but was on my way to the muffler shop for the honda and engine just would cut out when I tried to get up to speed. I do have an exhaust leak on the drivers side and looking to order headers as the rest of the exhaust is done. It was very hot today in Magnolia Texas so could have something to do with it as well. I hope that once I get headers on it will fix this as I really just run half throttle to get up to speed. Any suggestions? I should have it back tomorrow to really take a look.

Check your fuel filter in the carb.

That is a very common problem - vapor lock - or - fuel starvation. headers will not do a thing yo cure it. Like John said, replace the fuel filter in the carb, or any other one you have. The thing that seems to help the most with this issue, is an electric fuel pump. Either a pusher type pushing fuel to the mechanical pump, or stand alone electric, eliminating the mechanical pump. Another possibility is clogged fuel intake socks in your tanks. You can blow them out (or off) with compressed air. Make sure you remove the gas cap first.

I guess I will try the air compressed air as I have an electric fuel pump and just replaced the fuel filters (one before the electric and the one in the carb). Should have it back this afternoon. I really need to drop the tanks. Thanks for the suggestions as I forgot about the socks in the tanks. I am hoping I can get it good enough for a short trip to the lake before the kids start school and tackle the tanks this Fall.

I have fought similar problems for a couple of years and my view of the clogged sock theory is that switching to the second tank should eliminate that problem. If the primary tank's sock is clogged it would be from years of use and the second tank gets lots less use so the chance of both of them being clogged would have to be from bad gas. Given that you have changed filters, have an aluminum intake, and an electric fuel pump it is more likely an ignition problem like a bad module.

Sir: I was having same issue. I replaced the manual pump, added an elec pump, I also replaced gas lines and carb. It was better till the electric pump quit. It was clogged up with lite brown sandy stuff. Then I blew back thru my lines in the tank and removed the elec pump and put the filter in its place. I still get stuff in the filter but no problems since. Blowing back thru the tanks is the cheepest thing to do anyway..

Charley,
Even though you have replaced your filters, make sure that the one in
the carb is installed correctly. I can be installed backward. I
personally do not even run that filter. I have 2 fuel filters in my
carburated coach. One just before the electric pump, this is real
important and one in the line up front just before the carb. I also
have all electric fuel systems with no mechanical pump.

Thanks for the replies. We are actually getting some much needed rain here today so won't be chasing it today. I have one filter before the electric fuel pump to keep the gunk out of that pump. I will check the one in the carb to make sure I have it in correctly as I have replaced the fuel line to the carb with the flexible one from Jim B. I will be giving the engine a tune-up here real soon so may have to change the module as well. Any suggestion on the best module to pick up or does it matter?

AC Delco. I installed one years after blowing to no-name ones. I have never had a problem since, but I still carry a spare AC Delco module just in case.

Yes you have!! I am in Thousand Oakes neighborhood off 1488. Mine is actually still up at the muffler shop (A1 muffler) down near HEB and college parkway. Let me know if you would like to come by and see where mine is at in the long restoration process as I am picking it up Monday. What year do you have? Always good to see others and exchange ideas!
