Hi David,
I e-mailed that information yesterday on my coach. I'm sure the owner would provide that information. I don't think he fooled much with the air so the dash air could probably be made to work and the Onan reinstalled. He has it. Just didn't spend any time with it. The wheels are 16.5s but I could probably help with finding some 16" rims and maybe tires. I could also pick someone up at the airport and take them out there if they wanted to fly in and get it. He apparently had it sold this week and the guy couldn't come up with the money. The pictures don't do it justice. This guy had several things that he restored, like a T-bucket, boat, couple of tractors, etc. All first class restorations.

Not quite...but only because I didn't want to drive it home in the dark.
Really nice folks. Super nice coach or at least it seemed to me but keep in mind this is really the first functional one I've seen.
Drove very nice, small exhaust leak, brakes worked fine, lots of pep. Air bags and compressor work fine. Owner said it would settle after a few days. New electric fridge. Hot water, Rooftop AC worked. There is still pressure in the engine AC but there was no belt and he never tried to get it working.
Everything works but the Onan which is out of the coach. It had been stored inside for 20 years when they bought it. He got the generator running but it ran crappy and he wasn't going to use it anyway so he just removed it and made the space storage.
They mainly take it to a campground by a lake and used shore power.
Tires are at LEAST 20 years old so I'll be making a slow drive home. It's about 60 miles. I may pull a couple off my parts coach and take a jack just in case. They're old too but not that old.
Thanks for the lead Devin. I certainly did not anticipate buying an RV last night. The wife liked it, and the price was right. We've never camped or had an RV so if we don't enjoy it, I believe I can sell it easily enough.
I'll go get it as soon as I have some to drive me up. Probably Saturday or Sunday.
BTW Devin, how do you know it is a Sequoia? It doesn't say on the glove box tag. The build date is 100473 so it's pretty early.

Kerry,
Make it a VERY slow drive unless you're as proficient at fiberglass work as
you are at aluminum -- and really enjoy it. I got lucky when I blew a tire
at only 45 mph and had only minor, non-visible, damage. Any faster would
probably have cost $2000+.

The interior is the Sequoia pattern. Can't believe it's original but it is. I agree. Those tires look factory and have lots of tread with no dry rot. They will get you home but I wouldn't go any further. Hope you join the Dixielanders.

The model names on many GMC's, especially in 73/74, refer to the interior color combinations. See here:
http://www.bdub.net/publications/1973%20GMC%20Motorhome/1973_GMC04.htm
Only certian exterior colors are available with interior colors. So, for instance, Glaciers have a blue interior.

I noticed a sticker in the glove box warning against using radial tires. What is the deal with that these days? Can you even get bias ply tires?

Kerry,
Some time later, maybe in '74?, they changed to radial tires; the previous
wheels were not designed for radials and reportedly will crack. A radial
wheel should have a circled R inside the rim.

Makes sense Ken. I should have remembered that. Thanks. I'll probably look for some different wheels. Maybe use the ones of the 76 Coach and just get new 16.5s. I'm not ready to spring for Alcoas yet.

Kerry,
Yes, the non-radial wheels will crack when run with a radial tire. BTDT
(Didn't buy the picture, the T-shirt wore out long ago.)
You would do well to hunt up 16X6 steel wheels that fit. Work with all the local scrappers you can and it may still take a while. There is only one remaining US supplier of 8.75X16.5 tires. My last contact there (since retired himself) did not believe that production would be discontinued any time soon, but stocking dealers are getting rare and availability can be a problem.
I would offer you a deal on six reconditioned 16X6 wheels but the shipping would be a killer.
