We're about to leave Ely, NV with the 1976 Eleganza we just bought from another list member. We'll be taking 93 to 15 down to Vegas, then depending on how it's going we'll either stay in Vegas somewhere or push through to Los Angeles. Wish us luck and if you're on the Black List, stay tuned just in case. Very Happy Hopefully everything goes well, please wish us luck!!

Meghan, Check out the Oasis RV Park right across Hwy 15 from the Silverton
Hotel and the Bass Pro Shop in LV. We've had lots of rallies there. They
have a pool and a bar. Nice place and should have good rates right now.

Thanks

Thanks everyone... Just stopped at auto parts with the rental car, on the way back to pick up the rig, gas and air it up, and get on the road. I don't think it's ready to sleep in just yet, so we'll probably park it and sleep indoors tonight Smile

Excellent news! The first few miles can be nerve wracking but after that it's just fun.

make sure the emergency brakes is off - one gets so interested and leaves it on as they leave and burns up the back brakes.

I almost did that when i left miguels when i got mine the second time i drove it. I drove mine from San Diego from manny putting in a new

trans straight to miguels to put in a new brake booster ended there for a few months work and then when i left i almost left the rear brake on.

Take rather wide right turns or you will hit curbs on the right boggies. good luck. mickey

If it heats up pull over do not see what happens it is hot when it is just very little over 1/2 hot. as well. keep in touch

with all these great people here on this list it is the best of it's kind in the world for any vehicle possible.

Thanks to the great people here.

Best Regards Mickey :-)

I wish it wasn't so far. If it was closer, I'd ask you to bring me a pile
of fried chicken from that supermarket near the town's main intersection.
Probably the best we've had in our lives.
Shouldn't be any good luck, just good fortune and be careful in the heat.

Good morning... We made it to Stateline last night around 1AM after a detour to the airport to drop the rental car off. Now instead of being the chase car I get to be the co-pilot. Finally! Smile There were no rooms available and we were wiped out so we napped in the un-airconditioned coach on the bare mattress (like good Irishfolk). It was in the 90's overnight so this was not fun. BUT! Now we're pulling up the Baker grade and headed home, where we can figure out all of this new stuff like shore power (and get the generator working). After another nap.

Write down what you learn. There is so much to remember.

I would buy a ACDelco D1906 Control Module Assembly for your
distributor as a spare.
Found at a good auto parts store or Jim K 1-800-752-7502

Re-check the brakes for adjustment, remember stopping times
are MUCH longer.

Get some air conditioning.

Have fun.

It would be good idea to see if there are any GMC'ers local to you. (The Blacklist is helpful to this.) A little time looking over your coach with an "experienced" GMC'er can REALLY make a difference in being able to use your coach quicker, easier and, most likely, save you money.

By "experienced", I mean anyone who has had a coach longer than you... Twisted Evil

Ha! But it's true! Very Happy

We're home! The other half (who did all the driving) just said, "That was relatively epic."

Anyone want to come over and show us how to use all the stuff inside? Smile

Tom Phipps (editor of the Dixielanders newsletter) and his lovely wife
Marilyn drove 45 minutes to meet my wife and I, and they gave us an
orientation on our coaches (I wound up with two, long story). It is an
ENMORMOUS help having someone who can tell you which wires are
supposed to do what.

By any chance, did you shoot video or at least take pictures suitable
for a slideshow? :)

Meghan,

You have already found out a lot of what you should know, and that is that you are now a member of a community that takes care of each other.

Please, for this forum, make up a sig that has a real name, coach year and model, and a geographic location. This is all just so others can help if they choose to. And, as you have already found there are more than a few that will want to.

What I hope you will soon find is that the coach is different than other things that you own as to how it fits in your life. It will probably become much more a part of your life than you expected. I liken it to the part that a waterman's boat is to his life (that being my world), and I like to greet new owners in a manner similar to the greeting offered to any new owner of a vessel. I am later here than I would have liked, but I hope the community will understand. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome Meghan and Sean

Matt

I think I just hit the "Well, it's home... now what?" stage. It's 102 degrees out, too hot to work on the inside or outside just yet. I am really, really looking forward to our first trip in it that's for relaxation.

Of the trip, or just the coach in general? Smile

This is from last night - we slept almost underneath the Whiskey Pete's sign in Primm, NV, right before entering CA.
