Hi, Rob.
We stopped in Chama back in 1975 but daughter wanted
to be home in time for her 12th birthday so we did not
get to take the train ride. I still haven't gotten back
there to take that ride over Cumbres Pass!
Your message reminds me of that big omission. Maybe
later this year! We did explore the rail yard in Chama.
The coaling tower there is one of the most modeled
structure in the model railroading hobby! We did get
to watch the return of the train from Antonito, CO
and view the dumping of the remainder of the fire in
the firebox into the ashpit!

Hi,
In the little village of Chama they have a rug weaving co-op. Excellent
prices on a quickly disappearing Native American craft. Worth the trip to
stop in and watch the hand looming going on.

Actually it is on Tierra Amarilla which is a few miles south of Chama.
