I met with and looked over the coach:

Pictures on photo site. I do have a couple more that did not upload:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6132-1973-gmc-canyonlands.html

The ad is for $4500. This coach easily has more then that in parts, and such that are pretty recent.

for sure within the past few years:
new gas/electric fridge
new 4 bag harrison suspension
new front tires. 16" tires mounted on 16" steel rims
brakes have all been done
bearings, cv boots and bearings have been checked over.
front end has been fixed up(ball joints, steering box)
new pins/bushing in rear when harrison suspention installed
new water pump, radiator replaced($600), hoses.
pretty new roof A/C unit

Nice driving, runs well coach. any issues is pretty much cosmetic. He drove this thing 100 miles or so round trip just to let me take some pictures and look it over. He also seems to think the fuel mileage is not too bad. He has driven it all over the midwest.

It even has an awning. not a zipdee. but still an awning.

pictures should show the cosmetic issues. just some caulk, and some paint fade for sure. windows look all good, bumpers are good. no damage anywhere. interior floor seems good.

has a full bed in back. bathroom is in original shape, as well as kitchen. the front area, the original motorhome interior has been replaced by a futon and a chair in it. it does have the bunk hanging.

I looked at the fuel lines, that I could see. and they looked OK. He drives it all over, and he has seen fuel leak when it is full-full. I would guess maybe a crack in a vent line or something. the ones going to the fuel switch did not feel brittle.

exhaust looks to be recent too. he also has a new starting battery/coach battery in it.

Looks like someone got a great deal on a coach! The ad has been taken down--I hope the new owner joins us on the net!

Ha, this is pretty good was trolling around seeking some info on door alignment and what do ya know..... Im the guy who bought this rig in Aug shortly after the visit you detail.

First one for me, been looking for a few years and was hard to pass up given all the parts. I live plymouth and ran into a guy last weekend in Bemidji who also knew about it. world isnt so small afterall i guess

I agree it is pretty much as described. it is puking some oil out behind each head, gonna prob do gaskets and slight clean up of the heads. unsure if it makes sense to does valve job....any thoughts. just turned 90k doing valve job may push some oil past the rings is some concerns ive heard from a couple mechanic friends.

Still struggling with cv boots. it had the weaker clamps and i shed rt side within 100 miles. have tried a couple versions of clamps and in the end i think its a clearance issue with lower ball joint bolt. on install looks to clear but perhaps under load there is enough slop to catch the bolt. funny the trip to bemidji it held at least 100 miles. didnt check again until got home and the clamp was gone but the boot was stiil on and clean....go figure.

Appreciate best solution, maybe former owner did something incorrectly with ball joint install... left side has been good with just the cheap clamp but it too is now puking, but clamp still on oddly. prob gonna grind bolt head down a bit as double banding for sure wont clear bolt

So since im new to this i need a idea on door. it could stand to be raised and needs a slight turn counter clockwise. tight bottom left and upper right. guessing hinge issue from slamming open, no strap on it. i have read a few ideas, but its seems to be a tweak issue rather than a recurve or hull buldge deal

Lastly since this is getting wordy, want to do front end upgrade. not keen on the $2500 to get it from california. any local options for the control arm work and a way to lower cost

While im at it gear ratio as well best to go the 350 power drive route or just do the diff with 355. also prefer local option.

Thanks for listening and i appologize if i bought this out from anyone.

Erich
