The GMCWS rally at Albuquerque a few years back is one of our favorite
rally memories. Too bad they can't do that again.

The first one seems to have worked pretty well, and that second one ddn't
appear to hurt you all that much, even in your uniform. So would #3 be so
bad? :-)
Wonder if there was ever a longer GMC caravan than we had from OKC, before
or after? How many did we have max, 30?

That was a great rally. I especially liked David's uniform.
As far as a place to stay, You might check out the state fair grounds in Albuquerque which is where the rally was held. They sure had plenty of room when we were there.

Marcel,
You are possibly too late, but don't let that stop you from trying...
You did not include if you have a toad.... That makes options very different.
Camping on the Balloon Fiesta grounds is expensive (still cheaper than FMCA) and very little for water and power (let alone dump) is available. They run (ran) a shuttle from the campground to the launch field, but only the event's grounds.
At this time, I suggest you get on the web, look at the Balloon Fiesta site and see what you can learn. I was told that they reduced the prices for dry camp, but I don't actually know. Then, find and call Albuquerque area campgrounds to see what you can get (if anything).
We did the first three days in 2008 and it was unforgetable.
The weekend mass-ascensions of 600 balloons takes a lot like three hours and you can't look away.

One of the GMC'ers took to the air (not in his GMC) and took a picture of the GMC caravan from the air while we were in New Mexico. I beleive it was just as the caravan left Cline's Corners.
Does anyone know where that picture is? Is it posted in the GMC photos anywhere?

We were in New Mexico. Remember we saw that little airplane circling while
we were waiting for Gly Trimble at Clines Corners? (Glyn, who was riding
drag, ran out of gas a few miles back and we were arainging to get him
going again.) Well, that was Al trying to get a video of us. He got some
footage but had to depart early for fuel.
The video wasn't very good but I've still got it somewhere. I'll see about
posting it now that I've got a faster ISP.
That was a trip we'll never forget.

G'day,
Marc and Puck's country retreat is in an idyllic location. There is one downside when it comes to getting to and from their property
with a GMC and it's the road.
It's a bit rough!
Here's a link to some photos of Double Trouble on the way out. The first four pictures are of Marc driving because I didn't feel
confident in getting Double Trouble up the hill in one piece with all six wheels still on her! I did drive all the way out after the
hill and I had driven her in.
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=6141
BTW according to Google Maps from the balloon festival at 4401 Alameda Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87113 to Marc and Puck's retreat on
Dancing Horse Road, Cerrillos, NM actually is 50.7 miles.
I note that there are evening events at the balloon festival and as far as I'm concerned there is NO BLOODY WAY I would try to drive
the road to Marc and Puck's home in the dark. In fact Helen and I rented a car to attend the Santa Fe Opera and rather than drive
that road in a RENTAL CAR we stayed at a motel that night!
