I started a new thread that was "sparked" (HAHA) by the fuel- turned- spark thread on the Onan that would run and then die. I know earlier carbon based wires had a 25K service life as the carbon is sacrificial with each spark, not to mention that 30 year old cracked rubber is not a good insulator on the wire or boots. Nor are rusty terminals good for the coil as it encourages a non legitimate spark route. I recently worked on a project to develop exact GM Restoration Products wires for the VIN 7 Turbo Regals of 86-87, oddly another waste spark system (though computer controled) that uses 3 coil modules in one pack for 6 cyls. We used the company that does all NASCARs wires and it the best of the best and USA as well. Now we have a relationship there and I'm thinking of doing exact fit wires for the Onan and Olds that would be second to none with stainless terminals on both ends and a long list of best of best features. Question is, does anyone know about the impedance that is originally engineered into the Onan wires and if it is critical for this system. What would be the absolute ideal? These are Magnacore type silicone /kevlar wires and I would like to start experimenting with a perfect fit replacement. If you want that factory look you can even get Onan paint overspray on them, but I'll leave that to you guys! Any engineering data would be appreciated.
