Just putting my 2 cents in. Take it for what it's worth. My mechanical fuel pump was still good, but I replaced it anyway. I figured it was probably weak. Plus, newer pumps use more ethanol-resistant materials than the originals, so I figured that replacing it put me ahead of the game.It meant one less thing to be wrong. I also rebuilt my carb with a new kit which also has more ethanol resistance. The carb turned out to be the problem. Every gasket in it was shrunken & bad. I ran it from a boat tank the 30 miles from our old place to the new.with absolutely no problems. Running the removable tank also negated the bad fuel problem, since I removed the tank when I got here & burned the gas in the lawn mower that was left over. Now all I have to do is find a pump to attach to the stock fuel line & pump out any gas remaining in the tank & replace the lines someday.

Richard,

Here you go:

12 VOLT FACETR CUBE FUEL PUMPS

PART #: 40104
MIN - MAX PSI: 1.5 - 4.0
GPH: 25
INLET/OUTLET THREAD SIZE: 1/8-27 NPT
MIN. DRY LIFT: 12"
CHECK VALVE: NO

When you're done you can plumb it in between the Aux tank and the selector
valve. Wire it to the selector valve and when you switch to AUX it comes on
and sends pressure to the mechanical fuel pump. It's a quick and easy cure
for vapor lock that JimB came up with. I have it on Double Trouble and it
works great.

Downside: if you have a weak diaphragm in the mechanical fuel pump you could
rupture it and pump the crankcase full of fuel.

Regards,
Rob M.
