Somehow this question must have been asked-and-answered 1000 times, but I'm just wondering if there are any new thoughts.
The "road noise' in our cockpit is sufficiently loud that it's hard to carry on a conversation between driver and co-pilot, a cell-phone conversation (hands-free, of course, in CA), or to listen to the stereo at reasonable levels.
I have relatively good insulation under my engine hatch, and the entire floor of the cockpit, stairs, and the rest of the coach are all covered with good quality carpet.
Mostly, it seems to be wind-noise at the windows.
The two easy improvements I am considering are:
1. Replace all of the "felt" around the "slider" windows in the cockpit.
2. Replace the two large windows in the galley area with the new style windows. My logic here is that the new windows have a smaller opening section, thus conceivable letting in less road noise.
And yes, the Bose "noise canceling" headphones do work. The new model even has a microphone that will work with an I-Phone, but would not be legal for the driver to use. If you haven't tried them, they are amazing.
Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated.

Fin,
I just finished installing heat/sound deadening material in my '55 Chevy
project. I used the extreme Dynomat. I had been worried that it would
cause fitment issues with seats, carpeting etc but it didn't. Very easy to
work with and I haven't met a hot rodder yet that doesn't swear by the
stuff. It likes a very clean surface.

Fin,
I’ve used some thick adhesive rolled flashing on the interior of my daughter’s Wesfalia that I had around the house from when we installed new windows. I don’t know what it will do for sound deadening, but the doors sure close with a thud. Now it sound much more like a Mercedes than a tin van. This is the stuff, like Ice and Water Dam, that self-seals around a nail hole. I suspect it’s a bitumen rubber material.
Fortunately I had new struts for the rear hatch. Adding that stuff made it heavy enough that the hatch just wouldn’t stay open by itself. I had half a mind to plaster the inside ceiling of the GMC with this. I think a roll of it is about $15 at my local Ace hardware store, likely cheaper on-line.
Any thought to using Dynamat on the ceiling?

I have dynamat under the front carpet over the doghouse. Had it
under all the carpet but remove it when the carpet was replaced with
Pergo flooring. It mutes the noise.

Nice job. I see you've got some bubble wrap on the side walls. Looks like you've got the sound and heat baffled pretty good.

When we did our front 1/2 renovation we used 2 types of sound insulation made by
E-Dead which is very similar to Fat-Mat. We used Edead 80 and V4, one is for
low frequencies and one for high. We did the entire cab floor and steps,
firewall, cab side panels, coach floor back to the door and 2 feet up the coach
side walls from the steps back to the door. It made a tremendous difference in
interior noise. The new body pads also made a huge difference.

Ray, actually, that frame was designed to support the skinny middle seat from the odyssey, I liked my buddy seat setup, so reproduced it, and made it removable for easy access to the engine hatch. I can take some more detailed photos if you'd like.

Sean, that seat setup is awsome.
what years are those seats out of.
if i could have both my girls be able to sit up front, there would be alot less fighting.
