Anyone got a source for inner and outer driveshaft boots other than the "One size fits all" universal type?

AND...
JimB at the CoOp has a different style. More like OEM with a big single fold.
I do not know what type is better.

Applied has the universal boots, not the specific ones. I have had trouble keeping the universal's in place.

The 'squeezits' work about as well as the 'bandits' >if< you take your third hand and a plastic faced mallet and tap all around the radius of the clamp as you tighten it. Same as the procedure for clamping the steam boots on Klystrons on TV transmitters back in The Day. If you don't get the band equally tight all around, it is subject to slip off. Ask me how I know this.... and remember, when the steam boot lets go, you're dripping live steam and hot water down into a 25KV connection capable of five or six amps.

Just a few words on boots (the CV kind). The universal style with many
pleats will stay in place IF YOU install them correctly. This means pack
the universal joint with the black, nasty moly grease, NOT the boot. The
boot don't need no lubrication. Be sure to have the areas of contact on the
boot and the CV joint free of all grease. I use brake kleen or some such
stuff, clean the metal and the inside of the boot. I have had the best
success with "band-it" clamps that apply with a tool. I have had the worst
success with the clamps that have slots in the band that engage raised tabs
on the band and are tightened by squeezing a raised portion of the clamp
with bull nose pliers. It is really hard to engage the correct notch by
yourself with only two hands. JWID.

I agree with Johnny about the tapping. But it's not nearly as important
with Band-It clamps if they're double-wrapped, as they should be. The
second wrap slides easily on the first so that you're more likely to get
even pressure all the way around the boot. Tapping will still help, but
only slightly.
Here's where I buy Band-It clamps:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#hose-banding/=iahgk0
PN's 5422K53 and 5422K67 (or the larger-quantity equivalents)
This is all you need for a tool:
Lisle Corporation LS30950 CV Joint Banding Tool -- Google for sources &
prices starting at $6.
I re-use old ones: The big end can be moved to the small end (if you clamp
there). The stuff works great for garden hose and other repairs.
