I have had a lot of difficulty managing this web site and today got a lot of help from the Go Daddy tech support people. Whew!
There are a number of GEMRECS pages on the web-I did not put any of them there. Hopefully, those there from the web site will go away soon, especially the ad for our GMC. Yes, it will be sold, just now yet. Yes, Gemrecs still exists but I have been moving from the shop to a smaller facility where I rent and don't have to pay property tax, a City alarm tax, commercial water, phone and utility bills, commercial insurance, etc.
Ethanol and some poor advice which I followed, have kept me working on the GMC a lot since 2010. I am near the end of that journey presently. To escape many of the ethanol related issues, we decided to get a Some Other Brand (SOB, in GMC speak). We settled on a 2002 Holiday Rambler Admiral, Model 36DBD with a bath and a half. Having only 14,000 miles and being 10 years old, we decided to have it gone through to enhance reliability. It spent a month at the RV service facility and still there are issues, like the jacks won't come down(a non-GMC problem), several overhead vent fans, incl. a Fantastic fan, don't work. Though it has NOS tires(dated 2009, the PO did not notice when he paid big bucks for Michelins on 22.5" wheels), yesterday the LF tire was flat and off the rim. The valve extended had allowed a leak and when I put it in storage, it went over a lip which deflated the tire. Similarly, a broken valve stem on the GMC deflated one of the tires while it was parked(thankfully).
The SOB also wabbles to and fro when going over rises or depressions in the pavement at low speeds and one must watch the rear overhang swinging out on tight turns. It drives very easily but fills up the lane like an 18-wheeler.
In short, some other brand is what it is-a larger motorhome built on a truck type chassis. I have not even been on a sorting out trip yet, but I already know, I ain't gonna sell the 1976 GMC Edgemonte I have been holding on to. While we will sell the 1974 GMC Eleganza which we have owned for 10 years and spent a documented $30k on, it is our hope to eventually re-do the 1976 GMC and return to it. We like the floor plan and upgraded features from the PO of the 1976 over the 1974 for those asking why would we sell the 1974 model.
For those looking to purchase a GMC motorhome and to those who are thinking of moving over(not necessarily up, in my view) to a SOB, take heed to this message and think long and hard as the GMC motorhome, small and unsophiscated, is still one of the best motorhomes and certainly, the best value out there. Jim Bounds is right in his cost/benefit analysis of the GMC vs the SOB.
At Gemrecs, I am still working on a few new products for the GMC some of which I may get to introduce at Amana in September

No, I did not sell the shop-I deeded it back to the guy I bought it from and got $3000. I can also store my two GMCs, auto trailer
and enclosed trailer outside. Don't ask how much I lost because it was a lot. Businesses are closing all over around here, ask
