Has anyone heard anything back from Michael (Mr. Radioactive) about his TurboKool? The reason I ask is because my Evap. cooler, on my garage, has been working so well for the past few months. I was just wondering if the TurboKool would work as well for a GMC.

It is, unfortunately, getting to the end of the effective season for swamp coolers in the Southwest. We had a taste of the "monsoon" last Saturday, and my garage cooler took the day off. This weekend has been an encore, with the humidity in the 20%+ range, and the garage is noticeably warmer and more muggy. Dissapointing, after being the coolest area in the house since I fired it up in mid April.

There is no question that evaporative cooling works well when the humidity is extremely low, what I am wondering about is whether or not there is enough airflow to cool the coach effectively. I would be interested in how this system is working out for Michael and the pros and cons of using it.

I've got my TurboKool mounted in place of the rear AC. It does a GREAT job of cooling down the rear bedroom even in 90+deg, low-humidity desert. Definitely cooled the rest of the coach somewhat, but biggest problem in doing better was probably lack of back-to-front air circulation.

That's good information Jay. There is no question that under the right conditions, evaporative cooling works great. My doubts were mostly about the airflow capability, and that answers that question pretty well. I have been told that they work well on small campers, trailers, and motor homes, but don't blow hard enough to keep the inside of a vehicle the size of a GMC cool.
