I have a problem with my 23' transmode which Norris upfitted. I can't find a house wiring diagram anyplace. This is the one with the full tub across the rear, I'm told very few of this configuration were made. Coachmen bought Norris , but Coachmen doesn't even answer email inquiries to their 'contact us' portion of their website.
I've a loose connection in one of the lighting feeds. I can eventually find it I'm sure, but I hate to start disassembling the coach blindly. Anyone ever hear of even a one - line for Norris stuff? Frady the Younger looked at it some months ago for something else and noted they would simply have to remove stuff to find wiring in it. We were looking for the video cable at that point, which I never did find.

Johnny, video cable?? you mean the tv cable? it is on the bottom of the front cabinet behind the drivers seat. Which light circuit you looking for? The pass side goes into fridge compartment then on the floor under the false floor in the bath chiffrobe then under the tub and across and back up the drivers side to the fuse panel.

Johnny, I asked that question several weeks ago. It seems nobody has a manual with the diagram for our Norris build. Let me know which wiring you are looking for and maybe I have seen it in my excavations/repairs of the interior.

Unfortunatel, no cable in the lower cabinet. The front most driver's side cabinet is under the stove. In front of that is the furnace. Originally, the coach fitted a couch there above the furnace according to PO. No cables where the couch had been. Zeb said they normally passed down the wall where you indicate, but this one never makes it to that point. I clipped it above the headliner and added a jack on the driver's side light/speaker panel. The TV lives on the step behind the driver's seat when I use it.
I'll chase the wires, thanks. There's a bunch behind the fridge, I can get to them there.

I'm looking - the lights over the couch behind the door, and one ceiling fixture. I've had the switch panel on the end of the cabinet (Courtesy lights, pump, and porch light) out, it's OK connections are tight. However, there is no wire connected to the porch light fixture, either ground or hot. I suspect when I go hunting I'll find the problem either in the wtaer heater/freshwater tank area or in the wall going up to the wiring space under the cabinets.
thanks,
Johnny

I may well have Midas and Coachmen mixed up. Nothing new there :) Because that one looks just like mine.
Here's an early ad:
http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~smokymtnman/norrishomes/
And if this is to be believed, they were fitted in New Tazwell, TN, and the buyer was in fact Midas:
http://www.rvusa.com/forum/vbulletin/showthread.php/3724-Volunteer-Travel-Trailer-16
Which is why Coachmen never answered, I bet. Since Pepsi ceased production of Midas some while back according to the first url, I guess we're skunked on further information.
Mine has the same sticker as the one in the photo, top line on mine says NORRIS HOMES INC

Norris was definitely bought out by Midas sometime in the 70's but I don't know the year.
The Norris Homes company in New Tazwell TN also made Norris Trailers and Volunteer trailers. Norris was the top-of-the-line, Volunteer was the mid-level, and Smokey was the economy line.
They were eventually bought out by Midas, who continued making them into the mid '70's.
Midas International bought the factory out and then later on Pespi Cola company purchased Midas. When Pespi took over in the Late 70's they stopped the mfg. of RV's. The factory was called Norris Homes, Inc. owners were members of the Ghost Family.

One of the offices may have been in New Tazewell but the GMCs were outfitted in Bean Station acording to a feller I met that use to work there. I have asked him for some home pics and he said he would look. Said he had some at one time. Clayton Homes is owner now and they won`t talk to me about archives.

In June of 1974 Pepsi gave away a 26' GMC MH in the "Win a great summer" sweepstakes. Do you suppose their tie-in with Midas RVs had any influence on this?
Maybe a better question would be, so why didn't they give away a Midas instead of a GMC?
Just asking....

Bill: It Was probably in the works or maybe where they got the idear. But since all 73-74 were GM outfitted, Midas`s (transmode)did not come about till late 75, titled as 76. My 76 23' Crestmont has the post style front body mounts and the stainless rub rail, also has early steering wheel and late style windows. I believe the 76 GMC fitted coaches had the stamped steel front body mounts, new style steering wheel and late style rub rail. There is rumores of a 26' Midas but I have not actually seen or even heard of 1. Maybe Shot has a record of a 26' Midas??? It is also strange that
some were actually called GMC by Norris. Maybe these were the 26'ers?
