When dry camping (no power, water or sewer hook-ups) has anybody used a system that discharges the waste water from the kitchen and bathroom basin directly outside without going into the holding tanks? The shower and WC would still discharge into the holding tank.
If so, how did you plumb it? Of course when camping in areas where it is Impossible to do this the holding tanks would be used. This would mean a diverting valve in the waste line.
Comments would be appreciated.

This is an interesting topic, the last time I brought up what we do I got beat
up here...
But, here where we live, nearly everyone dumps the grey water to the ground when
boon-dock camping.
We have a 78 Royale which has two waste tanks. The only thing that goes into
the black tank is the toilet, the 2 sinks and shower go into the grey tank. (it
wasn't that way when we bought it but I re-plumbed it so all grey goes into the
grey tank).
When camping in remote areas, we let the grey run out on the ground. I let it
fill and then I partially empty it because I always want some in there for when
we dump at a sanitary station, I dump black first and then grey to flush the
macerator pump, hose etc.
YEAH YEAH YEAH, I know the environmental gung-ho's will disagree with this and
probably rip on me......WHATEVER ! But it's no different than people with
tents that wash their dishes and dump the dish water on the ground. We do use
bio-degradable shampoo, body wash and dish soap, got that idea from a recent
vacation in Belize where the drain from the beach cabana showers ran out on to
the ground.

Peter, opinions vary on this topic. One could put valves in the traps and divert
water.
I would think a second drain, in the shower, might also have some bearing on
where water went.

An easy answer would be to wash the dishes in a plastic pan (in the sink) then dump it outside ,take a shower in a large kitty litter box (in the shower)and do likewise. Kind of crude but it would keep a lot of water out of the holding tank and the coach would not be illegal.

Glad to have some sensible answers. About 40 years ago my parents were dependent on an old septic tank. After many troubles my dad decided to help it out a bit by plumbing the washing machine out into the woods behind the house.
Last time I was by there the drain is still functioning well, covered up by the greenest foliage in the forest.

At my vacation property the laundry facilities are located in the basement and the sewer exit is too high for the washing machine to pump into it. I ran the drain line into the sump well in the basement and when it fills the sump the pump sends it into the yard. At first I was worried that it would kill the lawn and the grape vines right where the waste water came out. Actually the contrary happened and that area is more lush than surrounding areas. Been that way for eight years or so now.

I have an idea: You have a double
Sink like the rest of us I suspect.
1 Adapt the tail piece of the small sink to a 3/4 or 1 inch pipe or hose.
2. Put a dish washer connection into the tail piece of the larger sink
3. Put a Y fitting in the 1 inch hose and attach one side to the dish washer adaptor, and the other to the floor below the sink and close to the wall.
4. Put a valve in each leg of the Y
5. I would also put fitting in the outside wall so you can hook up a hose and plug it when not using it.
6. When boon docking close the septic side and open wall side. Only use the small sink for water you want outside.
7 when not boon docking open the septic side and close the wall side.
8 put a hose on the fitting and run it into the bush or a bucket that you can bring with you to the outhouse or grey water drains.
Banff and Jasper have lots of places to bring your grey water.
May I suggest not dropping the water straight on the ground. Nothing worse for the next user of your great spot.
Holy Cow. I just thought about doing an idea doing the whole sink with a 11/4 ball valve and a dish wassher fitting. If you want more details just ask.

Can you do this? Yes, you can. Many have done this, just be smart about it.
BUT... as some have alluded, this practice is NOT legal many places. (Most likely most places, by now...) If the water enters ANY part of the RV drain system, they can cite you for illegal dumping.
Like I said, be smart about it.

If you're planning on collecting this gray water in a blue tank with
wheels, it will work.
If you're planning on just dumping it, be prepared to be evicted from the
area, fined, or arrested.
In many areas, water that has gone through any kind of RV plumbing is
illegal to be dumped on the ground.
If it's wash water that has never been inside an RV, it's OK if the area
rules are followed.
My suggestion:
Don't do it!

How the Grey water is collected for disposal is not part of the problem, but how you actually get rid of it,is. I have not done this change to my unit however (Just and idea that came to mind as you asked) (I have fun brainstorming).
I've owned 2 late model Factory produced tent trailers that had nothing other than a sink, water tank and a hand pump. The sink drain of both went directly to the outside so I could keep a pail to catch the grey water. One actually went directly to the ground (I could not catch the water because it was so low. Campers (for the back of a pickup) without toilets also are equiped the same way.
Everyone is right however that if you handle the waste water in an inappropiate way there can be problems and/or possible fines assessed. Even a leaky tank, Valves, fittings, or drain covers can cause issues with camp sites, and or regulators. Use good Judgement.

I don't know how many others here were part of the camping/RV community 40+/- years ago, but that was also the starting time of the whole environmental kick. One of the first things to happen was the prohibition of surface discharge of any waste water. You have to remember, there are a lot of discourteous cretins out there. A big complaint in the camping world was people dumping wash water in poorly chosen places - like right on the pavement in a highway rest area.
A decision made by many RV builders at that time was simply if it has to be tanked, it can all be in one tank. That was the GMC route.
As these coaches were designed to be travelers and not parkers, they were designed to be acceptable company where ever they were. They were also designed to be able to feed and sleep at least part of the crew when underway - just like any long passage cruiser.
