I spent a little time cooking 4 different materials to see which, if any, might be a good insulator for the engine side of my cockpit floor. You might be curious what I found:

The EZ Cool folks offer their product as a noise/heat barrier for automobiles and say it will easily handle engine compartment temperatures but I found that the 1/8" core collapsed with heat so I question it's thermal abilities over time.
The adhesive backed foil from Home Depot I will probably use on the firewall behind the heater box where "no man has ever gone before".
The Home Depot (on line only) Radiant barrier I'll probably use on the cockpit floor, foil down, in lieu of a carpet pad.
Not quite sure what to use on the engine side, suggestions appreciated.

Glenn. Search my old posts on insulation. I hate to type. I think 7 or 8 thousands foil would be better than the .005 I used with the ceramic insulation. Wife commented that it was much quieter. You don't here the 507 cubic inches unless its a real steep hill.,,,,,,PL
