Which GM steering columns fit our coaches and are parts available to rebuild them? Thanks. Late 77 403.

Among a LOT of other useful information, you'll find that answer in:

http://gmcws.org/Tech/junkyardgems/index.htm

It's important to emphasize though, that only the UPPER part of other
columns (above the tilt pivot point) is transferable to the GMC -- the
housing and lower shaft are shorter on the GMC than on passenger cars.
Also, that reference is probably too restrictive; I think many later than
'78 columns, even without the telescopic feature, are probably usable.

This is a mandatory reference if you're going to attempt to change the
steering column:

I've narrated 2-3 seminars based on that presentation (I always let 2-3
victims do the actual hands-on teardown & reassembly). We've found that
there is one error -- to remove the lock cylinder, the screwdriver goes
into the slot immediately above and left of the one shown. The most common
response to the seminar is, "..That was very useful -- it convinced me to
never attempt it...". Having just yesterday finished rebuilding my column,
I can tell you that it's not a trivial job, but definitely within 'most
anyone's capabilities. Make your own photos as you go if your memory is at
all deteriorated. Buy new top upper & lower bearings before you tear it
down -- some the balls in there, especially from the upper, will probably
wind up on the floor, down in the column, or ???.

Thanks, Ken.
In the 80's, I worked theft recovery on GM steering columns but mostly on the upper bowl and lock assemblies.
This info brings alot of that back.
