We traveled with ours for 2 weeks in the '77 over the Christmas Holiday and
had no major problems. Didn't see them at all the first day, they were both
holed up in the litter box under the fridge. That worked until one of them
decided to use it for its intended purpose and then they hid under the rear
bed or one found a loose cover under the couch to make a bed behind.. After
day 2 they got bolder and by the end of the first week they liked the
changing view from the rear window. During the return trip to NY from
Albuquerque after visiting in Fl and TX (total 5,000 miles), they rode up
front either on top of the driver/passenger seat or on the dashboard at
night to watch the lights.
Only problem, other than one loco occasionally using the old upholstered
front seats for a scratch post (need recovered anyway), happened when the
outside door didn't shut right at a campground and they both got out but
stayed under the GMC where they could be rescued. FYI, I removed both doors
and the vacuum cleaner for the LB and we gave them water/food during one of
the stops. Also, ours are housecats that only go outside on weekend days for
brief periods.
Good Luck,
