I rebuilt the carb Thursday & set out for our place Friday. Thankfully, the carb performed flawlessly, much to my relief. It made it there without drama. I can tell that I'll definitely need new shocks down the line & to replace the rear hoses at some point, but I didn't get in any hurry. I even had to get into the 4-barrel on one long hill. The only thing that hurt was my fuel mileage. When I kicked it in, I could hear the vent on the boat tank whistle.. The only drama we had was getting it onto the lot & put where it needed to be. My lot is sugar sand & the GMC has the sand buoyancy of an anchor. We had a neighbor with a 4WD tractor there & he was able to drag it in no problem. Plugged it in & fired everything up. Everything works fine except the fresh water pump, so that's the next item on the agenda. We slept in it last night & the original roof A/C kept it very comfortable all night.
I wish our car would had the same performance as the GMC. It blew the transaxle, so it's still there. I will be shopping for a car this week I can afford.
If there's a moral in this tale, I guess it's that friends don't let friends buy Chrysler cars. I sure won't be buying another one again.

Geez, I been buying Chryskler cars since about 1968 model year, and been completely happy with them.  I do however follow my rebuilder friend's advice, and use only Chrysler ATF for the front wheel drive ones.  They have the only minivan which will haul a LARGE dog and his crate and tack; and still let the second row of seats stay in the van.  We're alos positive on VWs, albeit not for travel to dog shows.  GMC plus a VW toad works well.
