I have attempted to remove the interior window trim from a '73 coach. The
corner pieces came off easily but the straight pieces won't slide off of
the holding bracket.
I broke one piece trying to pry it off. Any ides on how to remove the
straight pieces in one piece?

Bruce:

I have used a rubber hammer to tap on the top or bottom of the plastic pieces to get the part to start moving. The bracket has a slot in it and the plastic has a piece that fits in the slot. You can only remove them by sliding them out of the metal bracket.

I tried to pull with a pair of pliers but it was stuck after moving 6
inches.

Like Gene, I have used a rubber mallet to move them along. But, some of them are a bit too long to come off except in one direction. And sometimes the ends have shrunk or almost melted and break anyway. Installing them is also a pain -- trying to get them started and moving. I tried setting them over the track and smacking them to snap them in place -- you break some more.

Patience and spares required...

when I took off the trim on our '73 coach, I ended up destroying most
of them. If you can get them to slide off, great, but not always possible.
On the '75, I was much more careful. I found if you pry off the lip that
hooks over the aluminum strip behind the trip with your thumb, you
can usually get it off without breaking. Start at one end and push the
trim in toward the center of the window while simultaneously pulling the
inner hooked edge outward (toward you) off the aluminum backer. To reinstall,
reverse the moves.

hope this helps
