Hey all,

What are my options for getting a firsthand look at some of this furniture? I want to upgrade the captains chairs and dinette in my '76 Royale. I'm one of those that has to sit on every piece 17 times before I am happy with a purchase. Are there any good showrooms (or heck even a dusty warehouse) somewhere in the Houston or Dallas or Shreveport areas?

Thanks,
Chris

Also, I travel to the Oklahoma City area regularly - so any places up there would be great too.

Thanks.
Chris

Hi, Chris.

I went back to your original message (in my deleted file)
to see just what was the object of your search.

Some P.O. of my coach put in Flex-Steel seats for driver
and passenger. The cloth is very worn now, but they are
VERY comfortable.

If you are looking for individual seating in the "living
room" area intending to make it comfy for two, it is hard
to beat the "Stressless" chairs made in Europe by Ekorness.
You can find them (not cheaply) at Dane Design furniture
store in Oklahoma City. We have two in our living room.

Dinette?? Any dining room or kitchen table and chairs can
be adapted for use in a coach. Just figure out a way to
fasten them down when moving! They'd be far more comfy
than any "dinette" put in any RV!

The suggestion to use fully adjustable long-haul truck
seats would seem to be a great one for the cockpit area.

Choices are mostly limited by cash on hand! (;<p)

Did I not read that GM started fitting FlexiSteel front seats at some point?  My '76 23' has them in, and I had figured GM put thenm there.  Or Norris, who upfitted the transmode.  I love them, only wish they were leather - much easier to get the dog fur off leather.

Ya I have been looking at all the FlexSteel furniture and really like it (from behind a screen), my problem is all of the vendors I have found through the FlexSteel website maybe have a couple captain's chairs and some sofas and thats it. I really just want to sit in a couple different options before I blow a bunch of money on something I dont love.

I will definitely check out Dane Design when I'm in OKC next. The reason I am looking for an actual Dinette is for the extra sleeping space as well.

** side-note, is there a function within the forum that would allow me to sort search results within GMCnet by date?

Dane Design in OKC is on N Portland Avenue,
a north-south main street, just north of
Reno Ave which is about 3/8 mile north of
and parallel to I-40.

yep. GM did install seats that where made by FlexSteel. Along with the dinette, couch and rear seating. (1975 to 1978)

BUT....

It is NOT what you think of when someone now days says FlexSteel.

The seats do not even recline.
