Still in first week of ownership of 75 Eleganza II. My chassis battery is draining down and can't find the cause. I disconnected the positive cable that goes to the coach from the chassis battery and got zero drain on the multi-meter. Hooked it up and had a 7 amp pull on the battery. Went thru each light, fuse, switch and found a couple of them that were turned on with bad bulbs. Now I'm down to a 1.44 Amp pull on battery and have no idea where it's coming from. I went thru the schematic and owners manual. I'm down to fuse #7 that according to the manual controls front left light, bathroom fan, and I believe the galley light(don't have it infront of me at this moment) Anyhow I've gone thru every circuit and fuse and can't seem to find what the cause is. Common problem? Something I'm missing? Thanks for any advice.

There is a nomenclature issue here that Mike just hit on...
- The Chassis battery (a term left over from other coaches built on truck chassis) is the battery that does the vehicle service - like start the engine and run most outside lights.
- The House (or coach) battery is the one that does all the inside stuff, lights, fans, reefer and starts the APU in your coach.
By your description, you are looking at a house battery issue. - True??
If it is the circuit that the head fan is on, that is a great candidate for this sort of a problem. If a brush is stuck, it can draw current and not run. So, check that one out.
Easy answer is to use some alligator clips to put a small light bulb across the fuse holder. It will probably light or at least glow. Now go chase the gremlins. Just keep one eye on that light bulb. That light can be on long leads so you can see it easily. I used to use a little noise maker, but my hearing went bad and it drove everybody else crazy.

Kelly,
On the 12 VDC fuse block for the coach lighting and accessories the
end of the fuse block with the power feed is fuse #1. Fuse 1 provides
power to the bath vent ( the 6" vent fan if you still have the old
unit). The Left Front lamp, Front power vent and one side of the
Galley lamp. The other side of the galley lamp is controlled by a
switch at the entry door and that is on Fuse #3.

Thanks for the assistance, the switch for the fan in the head was stuck, and the fan doesn't work, so I've isolated the problem.

Good that thing did not smoke..
1)The OEM style replacement bath fans can be had at www.appliedgmc.com or at www.gmcmotorhomeparts.com.
2)for saftey's sake stop disconnecting the positve cable. The correct protocol is to disconnect the negative cable. Reason is if the negative is connected and you are wrenching on the positive, any part of the chassis you might touch with the wrench on the positive will cause a direct short/ battery explosion. If you connect the negative last/disconnect first, the only thing you can short to is the positive battery terminal (unless you swing over to the breaker or shunt relay in the back of course). It's just a good protocol thing.
