absolutely! And WAY lighter! Our flexsteel furniture is heavy, uncomfortable,
difficult to operate, potentially hazardous to one's fingers, and has very
limited storage.
As for the cabinets, when I eventually pull the ones out of our '75,
most/all will be junked. They've deteriorated from being wet and
the rotten particle board smells awful. Our '73 got just as wet,
but the cabinets are fine, sturdy, lightweight, and will be reused as
much as possible. The faux wood grain can be painted or veneered.
The only plausibly good thing about the later GM cabinets is the
dovetailed drawers. Though they weigh more and are not functionally
better than the earlier plywood and staples version, they are prettier.
If the inside of a drawer matters. :-) They don't stay closed as well
as the earlier drawers though.
just my opinions, of course.
