What is the best product to remove the glue from the sticker that made
up the coach's belt line? I've tried Goo-Gone, acetone, etc. I power
washed the whole thing and it expedited taking the flaky old sticker off
but it left behind the glue.

3M adhesive remover. Comes in a pint, quart, gallon, size container. Can be
purchased on line, just Google the name. It absolutely will not hurt your
paint. Stuff like MEKP and lacquer thinner will also take off the adhesive
and the underlying paint as well. There may be comparable products out
there, but this one has always worked for me, and I've been doing this kind
of stuff for a very long time.

Jim,
Do you have the 3M part number for the adhesive remover? I know they make
at least two removers and one WILL flatten and eventually remove the paint.
I have used both. I believe the safe one to use is a decal adhesive
remover originally used to remove the adhesive under contact paper "woody
wagons".
Be sure you get the right one.

Tom, I have an empty can down in the shop. I will get the number and post
it. All of these products will remove whatever kind of wax that you have on
your paint also, which might be the "flatter" appearance you speak of. IN
ANY EVENT, your experience might vary. It is good advise to always test
your paint in an area that is kind of hidden from view and see if there is
any color coming off onto your rag. Also, these "miracle fiber" cleaning
cloths are quite abrasive in their own right. I long for the day when we
still had cotton diapers around. They were absolutely the best wax
polishing cloths ever.

I think the product you're thinking of is 3M Decal and Stripe Remover. It's available on line, but is about $25 for a spray can.
If the coaches were painted with an Imron paint, I wonder if the regular adhesive remover may not work just fine. Never tried either, so just thinking out loud!

I agree on the cotton diapers as the best rags ever - the Pampers just
don't hold up when polishing my MG!
Yes, do check the number. I had one that worked great and thought I was
buying the same thing at a body shop supply house and it was much stronger
- took the paint of in the first swipe. Glad it wasn't a critical surface.

It was raining today so I didn't get a good chance to try the $10 spray
can I got from AutoZone. I did try it on a couple spot and if left for a
few minutes, started to soften the glue somewhat. So I am hopeful...

73-74 coaches are an enamel not Imron like 75+ so be careful. A good spot to use for the test area is where the stripes go under the front access doors.

I have been told that the very last coaches (1978) also did not get Imron.
I do know the paint on my '78 does NOT seem to be as good as I have heard Imron to be. But, due to the number of runs and stuff in what appears to be factory paint, I always put it down to poor quality control at the factory... it WAS the 70's you know.
Also, the decals used, seem to have different adhesives. The decals on '78 (Coachman installed) are MUCH easier to remove than the ones on the '77. The '77 has two different types of decals... I suspect the front were installed by GM and the rear stripes where put on my Coachman. Neither are easy to remove.
SO... the recommended adhesive remover would vary with what decal you are removing. Acetone seems to work well on the '78 Coachman stripe adhesive. Goo-Gone also works but it seems to be mostly acetone. I still do not know what works on other stripes.

Lacquer thinner will not hurt polyurethane , imron, catlyzed enamels as long as the paint film is not trapped in the solvent for extended periods say by leaving a saturated rag laying on the panel. 3m adhesive remover works well on most films as do citrus based aerosol adhesive removers.
