air breather questions, mm 6m-28 and 6t-2
i dont have a hot air pipe, snorkle has space for one, but engine side does not, is this piece important, and related. based on mm 6t-4, all 3 pics on that page shows an air bleed sensor in breather assembly, i have it, it has 2 small air lines on it. one goes to the vacuum piece on snorkel which does not have the pipe as mentioned above, and the other side has a piece of air hose that goes to nothing. and i dont see anywhere to connect it. where should this go, and better yet, is it important?

I'm assuming you have a carburetor. I only hooked that hot air snorkel up when I lived in southern California and it was time for smog inspection. It will help warm the carburetor when the engine is cold but after that it isn't needed. I would leave the pipe off and the small hoses unconnected so the valve in the snorkel lets the air come in the front opening. If you need to pass smog it will need to be operational.

This system only functions when the engine is cold. Many of us run without it working but frankly your engine will run better just as the choke starts coming off. Depending on your state, it may not pass a visual emission inspection but it won't make any difference in the emission test since that is run with the engine at operating temperature.

Brian,
It is not a dumb question, there are none. (Unless you already know the answer.)
Those were put on cars to prevent carburetor icing during idling in cold humid climates. The pipe used to connect to a heat shield (called a stove) on the left side exhaust manifold. The door in the snorkel used to connect to a thermal control inside the air filter housing.
If your not having idle icing problems, you don't need it.
