75 model, 455
drivers side valve cover, piece that went to air filter housing, i assume to vent case.
mine has ran away from home,
i have seem little filter looking things that take it place, or i guess is meant to.
is there a benefit of this feeding back to the air breather?
thanks in advance for any input,
bgk

Brian,
Please click on the link below:

Download the Parts Book and find the part you're talking about and provide a

Brian,
That is part of the pollution control system. I replaced all my parts and found them at Carquest. Ask for parts for 1975 , 455 ci olds Toronado.

The round breather filter is a a common item used on other GM cars as the Olds powered Riviera from early 80s and the Buick Regal Grand National 86-87 VIN7. Yes you want to vent to the aircleaner through the filter so the PCV can draw through the filter and at times of high blow by vent the nasty gases back to the engine to be burned. It's a basic emissions system with no power robing down side. There also a rubber elbow ( might find in HELP parts) and the metal tube (men's mall) and the grommet that holds the filter. The GM version of the filter is about $15 but there are knockoffs out there for $5.

There is also a NAPA part, their number 2993. I bught one today for $6. All of my rubber parts - both grommets and the elbow - are in good shape so I just needed the filter assembly.

Good find!
Bdub, I checked the GMCMI Parts Interchange index and noted that under this
part name the Napa P/N 703-1372 is listed. It comes up in their system as
BK7031372. Could you add FIL2993 in the next revision.
Regards,
Rob M.

thatnsk for all the responces, you guys are great, including private messages with pictures. the support on this site is why i bought my coach, i knew there was enough support to keep it on the road,
i need this breather thing and the elbow. the short pipe is still on breather box.
I sent jim an email to see if he has both, i understand i can get the breather local, but about time i gave a vender money even if it is only $10 or so.
while i am at it i might as well seek pcv valve on other breather which goes to line on carb???
thanks again for all the input

Jim K should have that pcv also, that's the one on the passengers side valve cover. If Jim doesn't have it, (but I m sure he will), just ask for the pcv for the 75 olds toronado 455.
