Nothing has changed since last year. This year I pass at Idle, fail (barely) under load. I think the kid had it in 2nd when on the dyno. Was 1500+ RPM @ 35 mph. Gonna run tomorrow at 35 MPH and see...

Chris, put some acetone in the gas tank first. It will reduce your
hydrocarbons.

I feel your pain, dude! I am trying to get the word out to 'the terrorists' that the emissions test centers would be an excellent place to attack. I mean, if they want to blow something up, why not something as important as that???????

Come on Chris, tell us how you really feel. Rediculous testing classic machines. We have nothing like that out here in this area of the country, unless you are in St. Louis County. I even have permanant plates with no more inspections required on our coach. Life is not always fair but it is good where I am.

Chris, you could try fresh gas, fresh oil, Seafoam...? Last resort: Register it at Steve's address in Sierra Vista. Confused

Chris,
On Saturday mornings we have a radio show called "Drive Radio with John
Rush & Donny Seyfer <http://www.drive-radio.com/>".
Owners of NAPA Auto Car Centers. Donny was instrumental in helping set up
our emission guideline
for areas requiring testing.
One caller called in on his vintage vehicle wouldn't pass emissions and it
was suggested to run
Sea Foam in gas tank and a little with the crank case oil. Drain oil after
the inspection.

Just what I heard on the radio!!!!!

This is slightly off topic but today just a block from my house the State BAR had a road block along with the CHP's randomly selecting cars to be emission tested on a mobile dyno emission unit. It's bad enough that you have to pass smog every two years to register your car but now random testing???? Had to be at least 6-8 employees there along with all the equipment; portable shades, table with three big igloo water coolers, video camera, traffic cones, signs, smog analyzer, dyno and of course the CHP cruiser.... My god no wonder the state is broke.
First DUI checkpoints now Smog checkpoints? What's next?
Has anyone else seen these?

Years ago I worked for IBM in a small office building near LAX. The road in front of the building had a curve and the police would come out with a trailer and set up exhaust exams for people unlucky enough to wander by. They did this at least once a week. The curve prevented people from seeing the station until they were actually right at it. I had Indiana plates so they just waved my through but others I worked with would leave the building parking lot using a rear entrance to avoid having the Kalifornia auto gestapo stop them.

Yes!
Same here in Alpine.
I coast down hill two miles to get on the Freeway in our 1985 El Camino that
the state of Kalifornia would love get off the street.
What do I find the CHP and BAR sitting at the on ramp to I-8.
The El Camino is still cold.
Me I don't get on the Freeway.
I take the old road in to San Diego.

PS If we could sell and move to Arizona or Nevada we would.
May still do it and take a $ hit.
Lookout Steve F. here we come.

I doesn't seem like it was very long ago that people from California were selling modest sized houses for a million dollars, moving to Arizona, and buying a mansion for three hundred thousand! I know Steve and Nancy love living the much less hectic and expensive lifestyle in Sierra Vista. Personally, I wouldn't consider living anywhere but here.

Well, Bob, I have to admit AZ is very nice as I have grandchildren in Chandler. Hope to visit them this fall, but, Nevada is just a little bit better. Ie., not nearly as hot, nice seasons, nearer to No. Kalifornia and Jim K. GMC's run very nice in our rareified air; we all get 20 MPG from them. AND, we have RENO and LOST WAGES. How can you beat that? (Also, no traffic to speak of). Don't let this out as we don't want anyone moving here.
