Most everyone on here a pro. But for us newbies I try to write down my adventures to give others encouragement to try projects.
Today I tackled changing window felts. This was something I wanted to do since day one of ownership but just got to do it today.
Its about as easy as opening the window removing the old felt and replacing it with the new felt. Sometimes getting it under the "opened" part of the window is a little tough, but all in all if your windows aren't opening well, replacing the felt is a great beginner job! My local window guy wanted a fortune to do this job, but I'm glad to have done it myself.
Also finally got my EZ101 fired up today. On winter setting, max flame, max temp, holy cow the waters hot! If anyone is looking to add a instant on water heater this project is more challenging. I opted to have a friend who is a plumber help me do the plumbing. I would of tacked it, but it had a few leaks, and copper lines needed to be replaced in a section...etc. I installed the unit however. I took ideas from the forum, and added it to the back of my frig and ran a flu up to the roof. I put the controls in a way that is easy to access. I look forward to trying it out in the real world. Hearing it fire up for the first time today was nice. Mine had a bad on/off switch from the box however. A little troubleshooting however figured it out. I ran a on/off switch to the interior of the coach so I can turn it off at night when not in use. I had to shim my frig about 2" as well. I used wood and painted the trim black. Looks nice. The EZ101 doesn't fit behind the frig in my 23ft without doing that. I'd have to give this one a "better get some help project for the beginner"
For anyone that wants a SUPER GOOD LOOKING stove top, that Spinflo is AWESOME. It added a ton of class to the galley. I'm not sure how other GMCs are but mine didn't need much. I had to cut the counter top a bit to get it in place. I also took my jig saw and had to cut the metal on the spinflo a bit around the lip. I'd have to give that Spinflo two thumbs up! Another great idea I got from the forum.
Its really nice to see my coach starting to get some where. Some of the ideas have really helped out. If your a beginner like me or to shy to ask the experts don't be!

I've got the EZ as well. Mines in a 26 ft coach so I didn't have to do anything to the fridg, but I'd second that this project could be beyond the skill of some.

At the same time I did my EZ101 I had to plumb in my TurboKool on the roof. I also had 2 leaks one in a really bad place. The PO cut a line and spliced it in both cases using hose. I know why he did the one because you really need to know how to use a torch well or you'll catch the coach on fire. It was in a hard fix it spot. Plus we replaced a lot of the copper lines, and added valves to turn everything on/off where needed. A plumber was a huge help, or I'd still be at HD looking for the correct fittings!
Mounting the EZ101 was only a tad hard. Well not the mounting itself. I wanted to keep my controls within reach, and have the frig go back as far as it could. Then I needed access to the on/off valve, batteries, and such. Plus I want to be able to add the shower head for outdoor showers. So planning was a must. But it sure works nice. The only problem I had there was figuring out why the unit wasn't turning on. However with a multimeter in hand I found out the switch was DOA from the factory. I remote mounted the switch in the coach for safety. With two kids you can't be to careful.

Another good reason to switch the early coaches to plastic water lines.
No torch required.

Did some research awhile ago. EZ101 definitely least expensive at $135 (last I checked) if it gives you the amount of hot water you want. My notes show it's rated at 42K BTU with a 45degF temp rise at 1.6 gpm. EcoTemp makes an L10 that I have seen for $150 on eBay to $220 elsewhere. I've seen different specs quoted, but about 70K BTU with volume quoted everywhere from 1.4 gpm to 2.6 gpm. Not much standardization in specs, so you really have to read the numbers carefully.
AquaH 6L also in the ballpark at 41K BTU for $170. And on upper end is Marey 10L at 70K BTU for $220 with "2.6gpm", but again reading the specs carefully they quote 50degF temp rise at 1.6 gpm and 40degF rise at 2.3 gpm.

I just bought an AQUAH 6L on eBay. I don't know
when I will install it or have it installed.
Others here have used the same unit and like it.
See 110853911401
I bought mine on auction 200479231916
Both of these are listed B-I-N at $169.50, but have
"make offer" option.
My offer of $150 with free shipping was accepted.

Mine decision wasn't so much about cost but it was a factor. I tried to find one that wouldn't blow through LP and was cost effective at the same time. I use LP for the water heater, frig, and stove. I use a heater buddy but connect that to its own 20 LB tank.
The water that I tested the EZ101 with came out scalding on the max settings (max temp, max flame, and winter mode), and came out the tap about as fast as it takes water to get from the back of the frig to the kitchen. I'd say it takes a few seconds and starts turning warm. Since scalding hot water is NOT what I need I'll set it lower for regular operation.
While I didn't totally retrofit my coach to plastic lines, 85% are now plastic. The copper under the bathroom sink dripped. And I had a terrible drip behind my draws just left of the frig. The copper lines had been spliced in both cases, and hose clamps, and hose sure didn't cut it when under pressure for a long time. There is now only one copper line that connect behind the closet for city water fill on the drivers side of the coach. Mine copper and city fill hook up is in perfect shape. It rarely freezes here, and its nice to be able to use city water instead of the pump all the time when I'm working on it. The copper lines all have insulation around them now to protect them as well.
The EZ101 seems like a good value. I've never owned another unit, but this one seemed quality build. (except for my DOA swtich which isn't a big deal since I remote mounted a on/off switch in the coach so I don't need to go outside).
