Well I finally got some time to test drive my 78 EL II, 403, 3.70 LS FD. The coach now has pick up and go. Step on the gas pedal and get pushed into the seat. Not like my vette but compared to what it was, it's good. The coach has guts driving down the road. Out on I-85 the gps shows 67 mph @ 3,000 rpm. 70 mph @ ~ 3,160 rpm. 225/75/16 mounted on Alcoa's.
It's a winner update!
Now the awesome Brake Reaction Arm System has something to do other than just sit there looking pretty!

What was the cash outlay for the conversion?
IE: To change from a stock FD and stock ratio to the limited slip and 3.70 gears, how much would I need to budget? (For parts only.)

I did before posting. The 3.70 change and the limited slip are listed separately, with core charges. As some of the rebuilt parts of one upgrade would not be needed due to the other upgrade, I am wondering if the price for getting both at once was cheaper than just ordering both upgrades. (Plus they would come altogether in one part... hopefully.)
I COULD just call and ask JimK, but I thought others might be interested.... plus I really do not like "bothering" Jim until I am ready to spend money.

I'm pretty happy with the giddyup of my Powerdrive and 3:21 combo, just hate the high RPM's. I run about 3,000 RPM's at 70 as well.

My 3:46 that came with my coach performed very nice Mike, until I changed the
lube.....well, I did a 1/2 change....the draining part. 70 miles later it was
PARTS ! Made my decision to upgrade to a 3:70 very easy.

Mike, It has been about a year and a half since I did this, but if I remember correctly, the prices were pretty much the same as on the website. The final drive is assembled and the kit includes the speedo corrector. The limited slip carrier is extra and is simply substituted for an open carrier. The cost of the LS carrier is extra to the unit. I remember struggling with the price and biting the bullet to do it right the first time. The total cost was around $2,500.00 IIRC. Just take the FD cost and add the cost of the limited slip differential carrier, and you have it. Check with Jim to make sure.
