After taking apart my front hubs, I found a hairline fracture on the inner race of one of the bearings.

I'm aware that Bower bearings don't have the correct clearances.  Does anyone have an idea what else might cause this to happen.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

There are no other signs of distress, but the inner race appears to have been circulating (walking) on the hub. This could have caused a fatigue failure. It may have been instigated by the small mark just below your red mark.

I am afraid , you are going to find, it is cheaper to go with an all new
"one ton" replacement front end

Matt,  Thanks for the help from you and others.  It looks like my hub has suffered excessive wear and well need to be replaced.  I'll take it all back apart and measure for sure.  I do have the Timkens but don't want them to suffer the same fate as my previous bearings.  The "one ton" option is enticing but I'm too far along my current path to switch.
